I am aware that the Fuji Speedway was recently remodeled, but why are there such wide areas of excess asphalt along most of the turns. You can't really drive on these exteneded areas as there is often a narrow grass median, and often the lane will abruptly end.

Any good websites showing pics of the new Fuji track?
 
I've been looking at these tracks for awhile, and I'm thinking that at least some of the seemingly extra strips of pavement are leftover from former versions of the course.
