From day one I've seen a huge majority of people in online rooms fully upgrading every car or truck in their garage and installing racing soft tires on them. It becomes highly annoying when you see this almost every time you join a room, I will admit that I used to do this quite a bit but I no longer do it and will never reconsider it. I'm not by any means saying that upgrading a car or truck is a bad idea but it seems people don't get the idea that a stock Honda Civic doesn't necessarily need RS tires and not every car in your garage has to be fully upgraded! I think some people should trying doing a "sport package" on their street car and then see how much more fun you'll have. I'm ranting about this because way to many people do this online and it's becoming no fun to race or cruise unless your forced to bring out the all to popular fully upgraded, RS tire car or truck to run with the others. 👎

My question to you GTPlanet users is do you guys find this annoying at times?

If you want to be competitive you try to get what ever edge you can, hence the full upgrades. The easy answer to this is set up your own room with your own regulations and then you can run whatever you would like.

I personally enjoy both, though I lean towards the racing soft/high performance end of the spectrum because I enjoy trying to out tune my adversary as much as out drive them.

I don't race online - I spend most of my time doing time trials on various tracks but I agree with you. I like my tunes to have sports softs or below unless they have a real excuse like being a race car. Even then I usually stick to racing hards. I like to have to fight a car to get it around sometimes - It's more gratifying and makes me feel like a better driver than using RS does

It doesn't annoy me, people paid money for there game so they should be able to enjoy it in whatever way it pleases them. A lot of my cars are fully tuned with RS's. Thats what I enjoy.

Can't say it annoys me. I only fully upgrade the cars I use for things. If I want it to look cool, I'll smack some aero kits and gold wheels on it and call it a day. Works every time :)

It doesn't annoy me. What annoys me is taking bob to Like the Wind>Indy and do the event 4 times to break in the car. THAT'S ANNOYING :banghead:

Breaking in cars is the most annoying thing ever:banghead: :banghead::banghead:
But on topic I wish there were more lobbies with minimal mods and sports or even racing hard tires.

It does annoy me. To me there is a lot of appeal in racing stock or lightly tuned cars similar to eachother but from competing manufacturers. I'm not overly competitive and enjoy a close and clean race for last place over a runaway win. Making a room which advertises this kind of racing is not a solution. You can sit in there for hours and only have one or two people come in who didn't read the title or restrictions. I think that's where the frustration comes from really - it's seemingly impossible to get this kind of racing casually.

I usually tune my cars at most just with bolt-on sports parts (and occasionally racing transmission and suspensions) and drive with comfort soft or sports hard tires. It's unbelievably hard to find online rooms that don't use racing tires, let alone at a medium PP (375-450) rating at the same time, and I find this annoying and frustrating.

Have you thought about posting your tunes in the tuning forum? I think we could use some more guys who tune like that. I'd like to try your stuff.

I'll think about it next time I'll tune accurately one (suspensions, gears and LSD) of my cars.

They can do what they want to their cars. It doesn't bother me. I just go and pick a better car. :sly:

I use to do that in GT 1,2,3,4 but for GT5 i would buy two of each-(premium that is) race prep one and leave the other one stock with sport series tires, and the funny thing is I enjoy driving the stock versions way more than my racing versions.

I do that but it tends to get expensive even with the seasonals. I have four 2010 camaros three zr1's four 69 camaros and so on. They should definitely have multiple se up options for each car that would help.

I am hosting a vintage racing series that is running cars between 440 and 460pp, though we are on racing hard tires (the group was conceived as a mock SCCA, and RH tires match the closest to their slick tires) if you have any interest in that sort of thing.

Back to the topic, if you have the desire to run this sort of thing against other drivers, why not post in the interest thread? I know I have seen quite a few people starting up series on SS and lower compound tires there.

Yeah multiple save set ups would be very cool along with a return to stock option.I find over tuning sometimes destroys the feel of some the cars

Join my group, that's our philosophy.

I mean not to race with rs tyres all the time.

Hi, I've tuned ALL of my cars (200+) to the MAX. from the word GO! It's just the way I play the game I guess. So it costs 200K for a full tune, that's peanuts. I just want the best peformance out of all of my cars. Lots of tire choices, adjustable this and that. Somethings work and somethings don't. It just makes the game more fun, for me anyway. Have fun.

P.S. Seb. Vettel is on poll at the Belgium GP on Speed TV (F1) at 3:30 pm. EST (replay) this Sunday, Aug. 28th. Cheers.

I don't get why everybody thinks that racing tyres on a street car are overkill. Ok, I agree that putting racing tyres on a Fiat 500 doesn't work, but on cars like an Enzo, McLaren? Come on, with racing tyres, your laptimes increase so the normal tyres are a bit of a bottleneck. So I would say that racing tyres are NO overkill. Also, in a lot of real-life races I'm sure that none of the cars wears its standard tyres :)

And yes, I like to keep my cars stock, except if it is for B-spec and the stock car really doesn't work.
For online races, maybe I like it that other players have their cars stock. And as said before: I don't bother about the tyres.

The problem is nobody wants to race in a low hp car also nobody wants to race in hr or less tires

That is a very broad statement, people bring their daily drivers to the track all the time on stock tires.

:) I understand what your saying, for example don't fully upgrade a ferrari, I have 2, a chrome enzo and a black/blue metallic SP1, yes great cars for online, but no fun offline, try a sport package and SS maybe, more fun.

I didn't mean hot laps like the nürburgring record or so, but actual races. Like the 24h of Spa (because I was there lol). The cars (Porsches, Ferraris,...) are slightly modified and definately don't race with the stock tyres.

But they're not road legal, they're race cars:p Anyways, I don't care if a car is fully upgraded or not, I just can't stand racing softs on street cars.

OP. You said you used to do the same thing you are complaining about. After a while you decided to change to lower tuning and less grippy tires.

Maybe the people you are complaining about are just like you were and after a while they'll figure out that racing can be more interesting when cars are moderately tuned and on less grippy tires too.

I look for online races between 450-600PP on SS tires (or less) and if I don't find them, I create a lobby. Over the past few weeks, I found quite a few people racing in my favorite PP range on SS tires, so the trend may be changing.

PS. I also enjoy racing my fully tuned Enzo on Sports Soft tires.

Most of the cars I regularly use have RS tyres fitted so they can be competitive online. It doesn't really bother me what tyres are being used, but sometimes I find less grippy tyres actually make the racing boring (apart from the regular pile up at turn 1).

👍

My thing is, after a certain point of preparation it just basically becomes a race car. Sure it doesn't have the livery or any of that, but once you wind up with a Ford Mustang that's been lightened 200+ Kg and putting out 600Hp it isn't really anything that a normal person would drive on the street. I am aware that people bring cars out for track days, but that is very very rarely door to door racing.

+1 here. I like racing for pleasure, and rs and fully mod allows me to drive any car I like with ease and enjoy the physical competition.
If you dont like it, enter rooms or make your own with tyre restrictions

Edit: they should hve kept tyres affecting pp then people would be encouraged to use lower tyres a.d increase overall skill in online racing
