Not my intention to knock you, but...

Doing a graphics comparison through youtube is never a sensible idea, its made even worse by the fact that you have filmed your TV screen with a camera which makes things look even worse so trying to differentiate the difference in graphics is even harder. The best thing to do is to compare screenshots.

I totally understand your point, but this video was done more of a tribute to how well GT4 has aged then a comprehensive comparison video. Still I do think I show some valid points about how there are differences.

Cheers

Should show that changes in graphics over the years quite nicely, remeber even the rather old looking GT graphics were the best of its time, and GT5P does not give up that tradition.

Nice add to the thread showing the progression of GT :)
In the future I'm thinking of creating a video with all the video game adaptations of Suzuka I can conjure.

Gt4
Gt5p
Forza
Forza2
Enthusia
Toca Race Driver 3
Namco R-Racing
Ferrari Challenge (Dream Cast)
Sega GT

Nice pics.. buyt
You do not compare it like that.
Take pictures of same car, and same track. Same angle and location. Then you can truly see the differences.

so GT5P looks better in 720p than 1080i?
i definitely need to try this out tomorrow
wow, GT4 graphics are actually stunning
i dont remember them being that good, lol

720p is better then 1080i But that is for HD data. Sometimes 1080i looks better. But if My tv is 1080i, I would play my PS3 on 720p

MIne is played in 1080!!! I know cause it tell me every disc that goes through the tv.

I am plaing in 1080p too. But I was just saying that 720p looks better then 1080i

Hey MightyMan yeah 720p usually looks better then 1080i on a 1366x768(720p) HD TV, but if you have a 1920 × 1080(1080p) HDtv, 1080i might look better then 720p on lower framerate material but not as sharp as 720p on higher framerate material since 1080i is interlace and draws every other line instead of drawing the entire image at once like 720p and 1080p ("p" for Progressive Scan)

And yes GT4 graphics have aged considerably well when in 1080i mode that can be setup through home->options->screen settings->video output->1080i in GT4 which is not remembered and has to be setup every time you startup GT4 👍

Hopefully the cones will be in the full game.;)

Getting back on topic, I believe Polyphony have show they‘re able to optimize their game to what the hardware can deliver. I believe there’s still room for them on the PS3. However watching them thru YouTube, I found GT4 overall graphics where still impressive.

To do justice to GT5P, you need to see it running at its native 1080p resolution. When I upgraded my LG 720p LCD (32") to a 32" Sharp Aquos 1080p, the improvement justified (almost) the money spent: it just look so much better.

I dont think that there si a huge difference between 720p and 1080p. I used to have normal crt tv and few month ago i bought Panasonic 37PX8E and that was a HUGE difference

Thanks for the clarification,
I'll definitely have to try 720p as my output is set at 1080i right now (for my 1080i tv)
EDIT: neeeevermind, apparently my TV can do 1080i, but cant do 720p...

Wow, GT4 still looks fantastic on the PS2! I only found out recently that it had a high-resolution option. PD really got every last horse out of the PS2 and GT engine! Can't wait to see where they go with the PS3 incarnations!

I personally found that GT5:P looks a fair bit better (sharper) running at 1080P rather than 720P (even on 20" Samsung monitor / TV ).
