Just wanted to share what I found when I paused the game at exactly the correct place, just at the finish line at the end of lap 2 of a 3 lap race,

The lap time counter is at 1:12.834 but on the right side you can see that the time for the lap has been recorded at 1:12.838
In real life racing it's often the other way around, the lap time counter goes longer then the actual recorder lap time for the lap.

Are you by chance in a DeLorean? Because how else could the game see 0.004 seconds into the future and know that you would finish your lap at 1:12.838?

Ha-ha, nice timing on the pause button though.

Also, aren't the grid spaces the wrong way round in the rear view mirror compared to the ones you see in front of you on the track?

He could be looking backwards.
But then the mirror wouldn't be there...
WHAT THE HECK???

Weird, this has been occuring since Prologue

There are two sets of grids on the final straight of the high speed ring for both the forward and reverse layouts.

Haha, wtf!? Good find.

Probably the screen timer is a few msecs behind?

Else GT must be extrapolating your driving! Wonder what would happen if you managed to stop right before the line, hehe.
