Funny in Arcade Mode

I've recently been working my way through Arcade Mode, to get my %complete up, and also to unlock the cars and tracks for 2 player mode.

Because I was just trying to rattle through it, I was using the Polyphony001 and the Escudo, which made it something of a turkey shoot. But I noticed something interesting:

On the circuit races, the computer always put me up against the Calsonic R390 and the Denso GT-One. The R390 always starts at the front, and the GT-One in 4th/5th places. I, of course, rocket off into the lead, but what happens then is that the GT-One cruises right up to the R390, but cannot/will not/does not pass it. It's taken all that time off the R390, but seems unable to pass.

So, I thought I'd have a little fun! ;) What I decided to to was drop back and watch them fight. Often (in fact, usually) the Toyota outbrakes the Nissan and is side-by-side in the corner, but then the Nissan pulls away down the straights.

In phase 2 of my experiment, I - erm - 'helped' the Toyota, and it duly passed the Nissan. Then, when I left them to their own devices, they restored the Nissan-Toyota order.

Anyone else notice this? Or think it weird?

Anyway, I finished the Single Race mode, so that's me done in Arcade for now. :D
 
I too noticed this. as you say he does what ever he can not to pass the R390. I've seen the GT-1 pass the nissan and nearly stop until he was behind the nissan. So when we were racing at Apricot hill, I "helped" the toyota as well. The hair pin turn before the straight away, I used my F094/h and went into the Nissan at between 170-185mph and knocked the Nissan into a violent Spin. I then kept between the two cars to keep the Toyota in first until the finish. When they we nearly 1/4 of a lap apart, I took the lead for the last the laps, but the end results came up as me, Nissan R390, Toyota GT-One. Strange huh?
 
Well maybe they should have done that with the R390 at Le Mans! :D

Seriously though, this is supposed to be a driving simulator, so that sort of thing shouldn't be countenanced. I suppose it was in Arcade Mode, which maybe excuses it a little bit, but I'll not be happy if I see it in GT Mode!
 
yes i have noticed this and it is sure as hell fun to do it in simulation mode because of the points differentials....

taking out opponents is ALWAYS fun!
