FWD High Speed Ring 550PP: why small cars are not popular ?

I just raced 3 times on FWD fuji 550PP this saturday night. I just tuned quickly a Mini (R1, R1, minimum weight, 220HP) to find out that the first time I raced (against ALBAN69, Integra), we had a great race, finishing side by side this 5 laps. That was my first greatest race online ! And we did it again two times, always almost side by side, both of us super clean...

I was just wondering why this type of races are not popular (2 racers only on 1st race, 4 on the 2nd, 2 on the 3rd race)... I mean, these kind of races are easy to access, everybody with a quick little tune stayed together (or almost) during the whole race...

Is it because these cars are not powerful ? or the track is not existing in real life ? or because nobody can be really better than the others ?

The track is DEFINATELY existing -I think that it is because the track is two big and designed for more powerful cars. Thats maybe what I think of when thinking Fuji and 550 PP FWD cars - not enough exitement because of big straights and wide, shallow corners - but I'll check the FWD scene and come back with a definative answer

Give me 550PP FWD on Suzuka or Eiger (especially) and I'll race happily for hours.
 
How did you race at Fuji FWD?
 
Fuji is just not a good track for FWD. Huge straights... wide, constant radius corners with a few hairpins thrown in... Suzuka is a better track, more interesting... more flow... and Eiger was incredible fun.

Wake me up when they bring back Eiger Pro. :lol:

haha nice demotivational, Didn't Clarkson test the GT-R at Fuji and hurt his neck if i remeber correctly
 
yuh huh, and theres the real life racing footage the game shows after you wait too long while on the menus at the track too. Thats beside the point - point made, Fuji racetrack is real.

There is a serious problem with the 550PP FWD and if the racing is as close at Nurburgring says it is, we should really give it a go. The only problem I have is I find myself brushing over the "550PP FWD" title to go check the RWD 550 and 650PP races. The thing is, in those there is usually one clear winner, but if the cars are pulling equal lap times in FWD, isn't that what us racers want? a close race?

How can we make a race event where people (like me) don't just brush over it to get to the RWD races? Suggestions anyone? Because I'd like to bring back the close racing of the original Dutch Customs event and it sounds like Fuji FWD is the way to go.

Most proberly the biggest factor to not racing FWD. People prefer racing higher powered cars, espically the NTSC crowd. Also, last update I believe, they GTRP guys us to run teg's at Suzuka alot, there was a Mini WRS and afew other race events. It was pretty popular and fun. Due to people racing it alot last update, they have drifted back to RWD 10 lap.

Infact your wrong. The Type R is very dominating on this event. The ability needed to gain an advantage and stretch a lead is very hard. To get the most out the car and to gain the small amounts of tenths in a laptime, FWD is very hard and everything needs to be perfect.
 
Sorry to all of you, I was tired yesterday, I wanted to talk about the High Speed track with the FWD 550PP...
I know Fuji is a real and great track.
And yes, FWD 550PP will be great on the Suzuka track.

Still same opinions now about this particular event ?
 
You can change the thread title, with thread tools, but then most of the reply's will make very little sense (maybe just something to remember for next time).

I think JACK hit the nail on the head with this "Due to people racing it alot last update, they have drifted back to RWD 10 lap"

Never underestimate the power of Suzuka
 
Integras are not unbeatable. Given the proper tunes, the Focus ST is close... and I've even seen some people run competitive times in MINIs.

But for MINIs and the other FF cars, tuning to beat the Integra is a time-consuming process. One that most people would rather spend racing a fast car, out-of-the-box.

I've had some interesting races in FF 550PP with the Mazda6 tuned on the knife-edge of driveability. Sometimes the tune works out... sometimes it doesn't, but actually dicing it out with Tegs and Focii (and sometimes holding my own) is worth the work!
 
I just finished a 3 hour stint racing HSR 550pp FWD. An event was held where the Citreon C4 was the car of the day. It was fun. 16 of those little C4s buzzing around is something to behold. Top speed(banging the rev limiter) was 162. Not too bad. Times range from 1.15.000- 1.17.000.
If you can get into something like that, then this low PP event at HSR can be really fun!!!

I had ran into the same thing and could not figure it out. Usually there is close racing which means a whole helluva lot more than speed to me. In real life I race Yamaha can karts so I have come to understand a fun race doesn't have to come from tons of power and speed. In real life I also drive an 02 Civic Si so driving the Integra feels at home to me which is nice too.

I may not be super fast at this video game stuff yet but I will always race clean so if anyone wants to try to set a time and get a group together to run one night or even day for that matter, as I am only partially employed at the moment, either pm me or put it here in this thread I'd run with you.

PD better have tigher, double file rolling starts for GT5 at tracks like HSR, Daytona, Indy, and Le Mans

I totally agree with you. Why do they decided to do very bad rolling start like that?
And why some races on other tracks are not all the same kind of start regarding the events ?
I love the Suzuka real starting grid (formula 1 type). That looks lot more realistic than the inline rolling start with too long distance between cars.
