Seems no matter what settings I choose my car will shift gears without using clutch. Yes, settings are on "manual transmission." Still working on a solution but any advice would be appreciated.

Edit: Nevermind.....I reset DFP settings to default (playing using a G25) and now clutch operates again. Then again, I'm mis-shifting more but I think this has already been mentioned in an update thread. Move this to the bottom or just delete it entirely. Thanks.

I'm happy to keep this thread alive, picking up on your second point - the mis-shifting. It's not getting so much attention on here, but that's probably because G25 users are in a minority.

This has seriously ruined my G25 fun, the slightest hint of gas during your shift and you end up in neutral. Furthermore, once you're in neutral it's damn near impossible to get it back into any kind of gear. I found myself constantly restarting events last night (against the AI, not online) simply because I missed a shift.

I drive GT5P the way I drive my Audi TT (only a little more to the max), and I change gear the way I do in my real car. It used to work perfectly. I NEVER miss a shift in my car, so why does it happen in GT5P? Sure, maybe I don't change ULTRA-cleanly in my real car, but it sure as hell doesn't leave me in neutral every time.

I gave up last night in frustration, but I'm now wondering if I should just leave the clutch off and continue using the H shifter. I'll still press the clutch pedal out of habit, but at least the gears will change when I tell them to.

Does anyone else hate this change?

yea it sux i think my gas pedal is a bit faulty nothing big but because of this I can never shift i always end up in neutral it pisses me off.

You guys have to start driving slower and taking your time to shift gears. :p

this news is disappointing.

What the? the clutch shifting is fine.... i dont get the problem.Ive got a G25

I have noticed when you keep your foot on the accelerator it does go into neutral, where it never used to do that.

However I dont have any more mis-shifts now then I used to. Im assuming the people who are getting more frequent mis-shifts used to keep their foot on the accelerator while shifting before the update, and now they cant do that they are having problems.

Not really, I suppose it depends on your driving style. If you think about it in slow motion, you take your foot off the accelerator as you depress the clutch. The "new" system doesn't allow for even the slightest amount of cross-over.

I certainly don't keep my foot on the accelerator, as I say - I drive GT5P the way I drive my own car. The only difference, I suppose, is that I attempt to change gears faster when racing. You haven't really got time to think, "Right, I've taken my foot off the accelerator, let's now depress the clutch".

Don't get me wrong, it's not happening all the time. But it's happening maybe 3, 4 times a race - and it's happening when it certainly shouldn't. This is supposed to be a simulator, and it's simulating behaviour that couldn't be reproduced in any car ever built.

Something I have also noticed is if I am drifting a corner with a lot of wheelspin (or even just doing burnouts) and I want to select the next gear and continue the wheelspin even if I do fully come off the throttle when I attempt the quickshift (not powershift and timed correctly) it doesn't like the wheels spining to much and wont shift (goes to neutral) unless the revs drop closer matching wheel speed. Very irritating.

It still allows me to heel-toe but sometimes when I do a skipshift (going down say 4th to 2nd) and I try and rev match a little early which requires a little more throttle on the downshift it doesn't like it, so I have to hold the downshift (with rev match) until the cars speed drops further, or don't skip and heel-toe each gear.

You are not to have your foot on the accelerator whenever you are shifting especially with the clutch. In racing you just have to do it quickly.

Thats not true, powershifting (flat shifting) is often done in drag racing as well as just hooning around. Sure it is not good for the clutch or the rest of the drivetrain but it is something that is possible and done in real life so it should be allowed in Gran Turismo, or atleast outside of ranking or online modes.

worked for me had a few mess ups but still done pretty good, first time using the clutch in a while i always hit it into nuetral and kept mocking up my corners, im startin to downshift more better tho, but could really do with a heal and toe video

How about down changing? I always heal-toe and if it wont let me i will be pissed. I think they should allow power shifting since it is a method used in racing. I my self don't use it but I see this new restraint being a pain. Since there is no real feeling as to if you are on the gas or not you could think your off but not really.

Just take your time and get used to shifting properly. It took me 2 or 3 races to get back to where I was before the update.. I never used power shifting, but the timing wasn't as crucial so I'd hit the gas a bit early sometimes. Remember, you're better off shifting slowly and properly than shifting too fast and mis-shifting a few times per lap.

I am more concerned with not being able to heal-toe. I shall find out soon just finished the update.

I noticed that I mis-shift less often with the update. Before I would mis-shift if my foot wasn't 100% depressing the clutch pedal. My left foot would lift slightly as the right foot did its business. I noticed that there is more leeway on the clutch pedal now.

My friend had one hell of a time on Fuji Speedway yesterday: I watched him go from 4 -> N -> N -> N -> 2.

Well what I have noticed that if you have a lot of wheel spin it wont let you change. So sometimes it wont go into second if i am coming out from a slow first gear corner or if i am just screwing around doing burnouts. I still lets me heal-toe so it doesn't bother me to much.

You don't flat shift in a normal road car... You can shift without the clutch but it needs to be rev-matched perfectly.

Back on topic: I have found once you get neutral in the update, its impossible to get out of neutral.

I noticed that you have to let the revs completely drop before you can put it back in gear. Sometimes shifting into second with the wheels spinning it wont go.

after my first lap i havent missed a shift. im a little slower and up shifts coming out of corners takes some concentration, but im okay with it so far.

Sure you can powershift/flatshift (not lifting throttle on the upshift) all you want on a normal road car, many people do it when showing off to chip tyres or if they have the power spin the tyres on the shift.

You can as I explained earlier in the thread.

Sometimes shifting into second with the wheels spinning it wont go.

Yep, disapointing, as I explained earlier in the thread.

I have question in regards to the G25 as I'm looking to order one tomorrow.

Seeing as GT5p only animates 180º turning and G25 has 900º turning, does this mean any input above prologues animation is not registered by the game.

Thanks in advance

The game registers full wheel turn range, it's just that the visuals (on-screen steering wheel) are inconsistent with what you do with your steering wheel.

The Driving Force Pro, which was the first Logitech wheel with 900 degree range, was designed specifically for Gran Turismo 4 (the first revision even had the GT logo in the center). It would be strange if the game didn't make full use of the wheel features. :)

Thanks jfedor, I was a little bit weary of getting it if it didn't register, not that I would generally need more than what the game animates but it's nice to know it's not going to be wasted.

havent had no problems switching gears with my G25 sometimes i miss shift but thats because i try to shift to fast and i come off the clutch before i put it in gear.
