G25 H-shifter not working

Got a free G25 at the weekend from a mate who races with us that just upgraded to the new Fanatec BMW Wheel. Was pre-warned it needed some TLC only real issues with it is the clutch doesn't seem to work and nether does the gear-stick in H Pattern mode but it does work in sequenal mode so it's not completely broke.

So before I take it apart and no doubt make it worse anyone got any suggestions on what to look for that might be causing it.
 
In GT5 you have to push the triangle at start of race to use clutch (each race). Are you pressing the shifter handle down while moving knob to sequential mode?

If you go to sequential mode what does the shifter "feel" like only moves forward/backward moves in circle moves like its going into gates (should feels like this).

If you do take it apart take pictures, plenty so you will know how to get it back together.
