G25 replacement gears, belt drive conversion, something?

To put it simply, my G25 isn't on its last legs but one day it will be and seeing how the wheel market is nowadays I'd like to know if there's anything I'll be able to do to prolong its service life. Replacement gears in place of worn out ones would obviously be the simple thing to do but I've never heard of them being available. Converting the wheel to belt drive would also be a good way to go but no idea of such a possibility either.

Anybody out there who knows anything about such modifications?
 
My m8 is well into machining stuff. He has a workshop in his garage. Im in the process of trying to buy a broken G25 from ebay since I dont want to strip mine to bits. Ill have to pay him for material and a few pints for labour but im gonna try and get some spare parts made from either aluminium or even steel.

When I get a broken wheel im gonna use it as a base to make a wheel with static paddle shifts. Turning paddles on a 900* wheel is pointless in my opinion. Without the custom gearbox in the game I often find im changing gear mid corner. If its a tight corner my brian goes into overload over which hand is up which is down.

If things go well you will see it here first. The main problem is getting a broken G25 from e-bay. They dont come up that often and when they do I keep getting outbid!!!

It would certainly be interesting to hear how, say, metal gears work. In a way there's a chance of making a "G28" - the strengths of a G25 (sequential shifter) combined with those of a G27 (helical gears) to get the best of both worlds. Not to mention greatly increased durability and perhaps even smaller tolerances between moving parts than what the originals had.

In case you don't know it's very easy to change G27 H-shifter into a sequential shifter with just a few rubber bands. It works very well since the rubber bands hold down the top ring of the boot which will only allow the shifter go up and down into 3th and 4th position.
