Hi all.

A little while ago I took apart my G25's shifter to put my mind at ease that the condition was alright (as it was bought second hand), even though I had been using it for about a month previously.

I finally reaquired a console at allowed me to use the clutch and H pattern features (PS3). Plugged in the wheel and started up GT6. The first thing I noticed was the reluctance for it to go into fifth. At first I thought I was screwing up the clutch as GT6 can be really pedantic about the application so I gave it no extra thought.

Next race I entirely lost the first 'row' - first, third, fifth. I countlessly checked in order to make sure I wasn't just doing the clutch wrong but it wasn't so. I pulled it apart again to see if it was just a loose wire or something along the lines. No go. I decided to check if it worked without the upper casing attached, and much to my surprise first and third worked, but not fifth. The gears only selected past the initial 'click' which is not accessible with the casing on.

While no doubt I am the one at fault for causing it, I was wondering if there was any suggestions to what might actually be at fault so my father can duly rectify it for me. And if I've truly wrecked it which I hope I haven't, I would appreciate any suggestions for aftermarket shifters that work for PC and PS3, if there are any at all.

Thanks in advance.

Check logitech webpage think you can get shifter standalone g27...amazon and ebay maybe good bets to check also...should be fairly cheap

Ah, the G27 shifter works with the G25. Was told the opposite.

Fairly sure G25 and G27 shifters are not interchangeable.

I would place my bet on the Y-axis potentiometer in the shifter. You could try spraying it with some contact cleaner or WD-40 to see if that makes it do anything, if it does, you'll know it's at fault, but I'd doublecheck it anyway, because for end all it sounds like a position pot issue.

Been meaning to update this thread, actually.

Was indeed the position pot sensor, but was due to it rubbing on something which was poor on my behalf.

It's developed other problems such as the triangle and square buttons not working, and the sequential not working either, but I was only really looking for the H pattern to be resolved. I'll most likely buy another G25 shifter and keep this for spares.

Gotcha.

For the buttons you could try cleaning the contact points on the rubber membrane and the PCB. Might be just some dust there. And I reckon there should be a switch by the selector for when you put it in sequential mode, see if that's doing anything. :)

I think I really just screwed the connection for it - I'm terrible at removing plugs at the best of times and I managed to break the solder of the connector by it lifting a tad out of the motherboard... man I sound like a real masterful person don't I?

As for the sequential, I did notice when the restrict or plate is slid across, it lifts upwards, which I don't recall. Perhaps it's not been assembled properly?

Cheers for the advice by the way - definitely noted to have a look at some stage. :)

Well, it'll be an opportunity to get a soldering iron and a gluegun then.

I can't really tell, because I've only had a G27 apart, but yeah, definitely check for obvious misplacement of parts inside. May save you buying a new shifter. :)

Unfortunately my father had already did that with no success which is a shame but it poses a good lesson to me I think.

Here's hoping! Much appreciated. :)
