I've noticed since update 2.0 that whilst driving the Formula Granturismo and the X1 the steering at low speeds seems to become much more sensitive.

I don't have any equipment to record what I have seen, but those with a wheel could perhaps give it a go and see what they find:

  • Take a Formula Granturismo to the Track / Select Cockpit View.
  • Drive a steady 25Mph / Move wheel through 180 rotation
  • Drive a Steady 50Mph / Move wheel through 180 rotation
  • Drive over 100 Mph / Move wheel through similar rotations

If someone could confirm/debunk this I would very much appreciate it. Perhaps it's just something to do with the animation or maybe just perceivable because the speed is lower. It is worrying because it is a similar pattern to how analogue sticks operate steering at varying speeds.

Oh **** don't tell me they put in variable wheel rotation according to speed and grip like with the analogue sticks? If they did I'm done with Gt5. I've already been forced to use bumper cam because the steering animation isn't 1:1 and now even your steering wheel input isn't 1:1?

What do you have you sim wheel set to, amateur, professional or Simulation? Aand what about power assisted steering. Could it be one of these?

I cant test it atm btw.

I see no difference.

Only in input from the wheel to road is vastly improved.

For the 8,000th time. The amateur professional and simulation only affects the really old wheels. The old gx force and such. Anything driving force pro or newer it has NO effect on.

I second this. The game tells you also. (It shows which wheels each option has an effect on)

OP - Steering is always more sensitive at slower speeds in the game, in all cars. There seems to be "speed sensitive steering" equipped on every car.

Oh - I didn't know that. That's a shame.

He's just making that one up :)

First of all, in real life front tires (in every cars) will self-align. When you're steering you're essentially placing pressure to counter the front tire's tracking. At slower speed, the pressure required is less than it is at higher speed. Therefore, it's easier to change direction at slower speed than it is at higher. A good example of this is understeer which happens mostly at higher speed.
