G27 brake pedal = GT6 screen says handbrake?

I'm new to wheels and have bought a G27 and fitted the GTEYE spring mod. My question relates to the display for the brake on the screen in a race, when I push the brake pedal the screen (game is GT6) says "handbrake" in the lower left corner of the screen. Is this normal or do I need to change a setting?

Braking with the wheel / pedals is proving to be the most difficult thing to master over the DS3.

I have searched but couldn't find and answer to the Gt6 screen says 'handbrake' when G27 foot brake is being used question.

Yeah that isn't right, you should see the red bar filling up as you depress the brake, just like the green throttle bar.

You need to go in to the GT6 settings and go to the section for wheels and remap the inputs. Select brake and then press your brake. This should fix the problem. You should remap the handbrake to whatever digital input (as in, button) you want it to be.

Not 100% sure where I select brake from. I think you are saying from my home screen:

Start>Options> Steering Controller>G27 Racing Wheel....

that shows the wheel and shifter buttons with drop down menus to assign the function. Do I just select a drop down menu from an unused button then highlight the brake with the blue dot and then press the brake pedal?

No need to be sorry! I'm not at home so I can't boot up GT6 and I don't have a photographic memory but I think you need to select the brake pedal and at the moment it will likely say handbrake and you need to change that to Brake, then go to any unused button, drop down the menu and select handbrake. You use this to select other things like wipers, horn and lights, too.
 
Success! Thanks so much. Not 100% sure exactly what I did but went into the wheel settings using the buttons on the shifter and randomly changed one, then selected "reset to default" and backed out, all good - working brakes :)

I can do a 1.47 round bathurst with a GTR stealth on the DS3 and was doing 1.50's on the wheel within 10minutes, bit more practice still needed but its manageable.
