Hey all: Got my g27 about 10 days ago & have been trying to get accustomed to the new feel. I would like to know if the clunkiness & erratic wheel movements are normal op for gt5's driver/software for this wheel. Erratic behavior from the ffb causes the wheel to be unreliable in a turn. Dead zone slop makes the car feel like its on waves in a fast straight line stop. What gives.? I mean is this it? $300.00 bucks & 10 weeks waiting & Iam better off with my 5 yr. old 2nd DF EX. Anyone got a good general purpose set-up for this thing in GT5 or suggest another game where the wheel behaves better to see if I got a "clunker" or not.? If I stop & set the E-brake on a smooth patch, turning the wheel lock to lock is as smooth as silk but while driving around a bend with maybey 30eg. inthe thing clunk & free fall about 15 degreegs then catch. Its weird Not like anything for real that I've ever driven. If no solutions , its going back to Amazon.com, in a hurry.

Sounds like something wrong to me. My G27 is smooth as ever while playing GT5. I somehow don't even get the side to side sway that most people complain about. I can take my hands off the wheel going down most straights with no problems.

Sounds normal , i have owned about 3 g27 and all did the same ... I myself couldn´t stand it , so i just jumped ship to fanatec and i love it :D

G27 owner here and I also have the random clunk. It feels/sounds like the motors fighting one another when it happens.

The rattling noise when playing rally in GT5 or Dirt 2 and 3 is very annoying. I turned down the FFB in Dirt 2 & 3 to get rid off it. Can't do that in GT5 though.

When im doing rally races, i just think of the sound as rocks hitting the car.

Sometimes the rattling noise of the G27 is so loud, that I don't hear what the co-driver is saying. And less FFB works better for me => countersteering and controlling the car.

Some of what you describing sound like GT5 , fighting the wheel down the straight , even my Fanatec wheel does this. The only difference you can add a dead zone with the Fanatec wheel but I don't like adding any dead zone. The "wave" feeling down the straight is linked with GT5 G-force meter.
If your wheel is making noise in the dirt this is normal for G27 and it caused by helical gears pushing the motors axis up and down rapidly which in turns hit a plastic stopper. They could have put a stronger spring against this stopper but this would likely add more wear to the motors bearings.

Is this due to the fact that G27 is not fully suported in GT5?
Also I suspect those sensor problems are related to this knocking behavior.
