I was thinking of getting a wheel for GT5 but which should i pick??
Does the 24position adjustment dial let you change settings like traction control while you're racing and NOT before racing??(GT5 and GT5P)
Does the RPM LEDs work for GT5P and GT5.
Could anyone tell me where i could get these 3 wheels that are new but at a cheap price also bearing in mind i live in the UK??

The DFGT dial let you adjust TC, break biass... during racing.
The G27's LED will work with GT5 only.
As to where to get them: You can only buy G25 used so try gaming forum classified, eBay.

P.S. I have the G27, tried the DFGT but upgrade to G27 for the clutch and the ability to change steering wheel

FYI G27 paddles don't work in GT5P either so you have to use the stick. Probably be fixed in GT5 though.

I like my DFGT because the wheel is pretty good but sometimes I just get irritated by the pedals. The DFGT is a great first wheel if you just want to see if you'll like racing with a wheel or if you're on a budget.

If you have the money though, skip the DFGT and go for a better wheel (G25/G27/Fanatec) because the pedals on the DFGT kill.

Also in GT5P the in race settings aren't useful to me (at all) except maybe the F/R torque distribution because TCS, ASM are always off, ABS is always on 1 and I don't usually change the brake bias. Even then when I find a setting I like it stays. I don't know if they'll be useful for you but that was my experience with the settings.

^ Yep, if you a no TC, no ABS person, the DFGT's dial is useless to you.
The paddles on the G27 will work in GT5, the demo already support it.

So how does shifting work with the DFGT? Since there's no clutch do you simply just tap the shifter up/down to shift? Also, how natural does the shifter feel? It seems kind of awkward performing little taps right beside the steering wheel.

I ask because originally I wanted the G27 wheel, but combined with a playseat, it's just gonna be too expensive. I may have to settle with the DFGT.

All shifting with the DFGT will be auto clutch. And the shifter is not paddles, they're buttons behind the wheel spokes. It does its job well for a budget wheel.

And what about the peddles? It seems like the DFGT peddles are pretty cheaply made.

Would you guys say it's worth dishing out an additional $200 for the G27? I'd be looking at over $600 for the playseat evo + G27, pretty damn steep. :nervous:

Save up for the G25/G27 if you can. You'll end up upgrading to it eventually and kick yourself for not getting it first/earlier.
I guess my one fear is that I'll be absolutely horrid driving with an actual cockpit, and then my money would have gone to waste. I'm assuming there's quite a learning curve involved?

Oh man is there ever. Well I guess it depends on what game you play but at least for me in GT it was a lot harder than a controller. The good thing is that even before you start beating your controller times with the wheel you won't want to go back. It's just a lot more fun and I find I was getting bored of racing games a little when I was playing with a controller, then when I started putting in time with my wheel it was like a whole new experience.

If the G27 is too expensive then I suggest you wait for the Fanatec Porsche Carrera Wheel. Sadly I don't know when it's coming out so maybe by that time you'll have enough money to buy the G27 anyways

Honestly the DFGT is a really good package, especially at the price it's offered at. I think that you're making the right decision by worrying about the cockpit more. To be honest you won't even notice the pedals at the beginning because I only disliked them when I was looking at new wheels  Then again maybe you will notice because of my posts :scared: sorry.

Anyways, if you can stretch for the G27 then I would suggest that and if not then the DFGT is still a good wheel.

I'll probably be switching from PAD driving to a wheel (after 13 years... ;) ) so that is exactly the topic I was looking for.
I have watched the video - thanks.

Two questions - which wheel has stronger FFB ?
Is sequential gearbox worth buying G25 over G27 ?
Plus G25 is about 70$ cheaper around my place (brand new G25).

Crazedmodder; Can you tell me something about FFB differences with DFGT and G25? Only reason for me to upgrade will be better FFB...

DFGT has 1 motor for FFB while G27 has 2, but in the end it all depends on the game. ON GT5P, I have the FFB at 10 and still want more; on the other hand F1CE and rFactor has great FFB at default level.
With the G25 gearbox, you get all 3 style of shifting (paddles, manual, and sequential via shift stick) but the shifter feel kinda loose and you'll probably want to mod it to add more resistant.
With the G27, you only get paddles and manual but better feel with the expense of sequential mode.

Thanks for the advice, i too fear that i wont be anygood with a wheel as ive done all my racing with a controller, but i'm the kinda person that jumps into everything not thinking of the concequences , but its good to hear that even though you were getting better times with the controller that was not enough of a lure to tear you away from the wheel, my wheel setup should be done in a week or so , so i cant wait, and i took your boys advice and got a g27

What are the chances of the G27 dropping a bit in price between now and November?

im not sure, but in Australia i had a pretty hard time getting my hands on a g27, even the logitech online store was sold out, i bought mine at a premium which i hate, but i fear that as the realease date comes closer there will be more and more ppl trying to get there hands on a g27 and thats a risk im not willing to take.

You can get one now for ~240 on amazon, and there is a 60 dollar mail in rebate as well, so around 180 after you get that back. 3 left.

I used the G25 a looong time ago so I don't really want to comment on it from personal experience. Hopefully someone else with experience can come in and comment.

Speaking from what I've read, the G25 isn't much of a leap from the DFGT when speaking strictly about the wheel (ignoring pedals/shifter) and the FFB is slightly better with a bit better speed. If you can get it for a decent price I would say go for it otherwise I think you should hold on to your DFGT if you're happy with it.

I'm guessing you don't need to read the next part because you have a DFGT already (I wrote it because I misread your post :dunce:) but for anyone who doesn't ...

I really think the DFGT wheel is pretty good. There are only two things I think should be improved:
1) FFB feels pretty good but a little (very little) weak. I have it at 10 in GT5P and in Supercar Challenge I have it on maximum and setup like that I like the way it feels.
2) The speed at which the FFB spins the wheel when drifting needs to be quicker. For normal racing it is not a problem at all but I find when drifting the wheel needs a bit of a push to keep it going well.

These problems aren't that bad, the FFB and speed are good but they could be a little better. There are a lot of people who drift really well with the DFGT so the speed won't hold you back at all, it just takes some getting used to.

I think the pedals are the only thing that hold the package back.

G25 is a good wheel, mine lasted about 3 years of constant abuse.. Now that it's half dead, I put in an order for G27. Can't go wrong with that one despite the lack of sequential mode on the shifter pod.

Sorry if this is off topic but any of you guys from NZ?

I really need to find a website here in NZ to find/buy a driving for GT or logitech G27.

*Just know that DFGT is way cheaper than G27.

I got my DFGT a few weeks ago as a very first wheel. You're absolutely right, I can't get much faster than my pad times right now, but my god it is SO much more fun! I'd definitely recommend it as a first wheel. The pedals don't bother me right now, but i'm sure when I get more competitive online (in iRacing, and when GT5 comes out) i will be looking for more robust pedals!

My G27 might arrive today.. Which is a good thing. I need a distraction.. Badly.
