I just got a G27 for Christmas and I already love the thing to death. It's awesome and it's so much fun but there are a few issues I've had with it that are rather annoying:

1. Whenever I try drifting or anything like it, the wheel kinda counter-steers for me(tested this by ripping the e-brake on a straight) and it's somewhat dull or slow to respond to.

2. I usually brake late, but when I do in any car I drive I get crazy understeer and the front tires heat up as if ABS was turned off.

I'm willing to bet both of these are driver error or just a mis-calibration in the wheel. If anyone has advice on setups for drifting or just for driving on the wheel, I'd appreciate it!

Hey 86, nice car! Is it all Initial D'd out? =)

What game? GT6? You need to make sure you have ALL the driver aids OFF. Lower your FFB somewhat too to give you a looser feeling wheel. That should help. Every game has different settings tho, you'll want to experiment to find what works best for you. If you're on PC you can actually adjust the wheel settings, but on console it's all in game.

Gran Turismo tends to add a lot of damping as you turn up the FFB, but higher FFB settings do get the wheel spinning faster when the game requires it. There are two approaches: either turn down the FFB (try settings all the way down to 1 and see) or turn it up high but add "power steering". This second approach is a bit strange because the wheel is hard to turn until you spin it, then it frees up. However, often drifters in GT5/6 recommend this.

However, there are limitations to the maximum spin speed of any consumer wheel. There will be situations where you might have to help the wheel a bit, simply because it's maximum torque isn't as powerful as the spin speed in a real car when drifting. So it's always a compromise, and you just have to figure out what your preference is.

If you go to YouTube and look up some G27 drifting videos, you'll see what is possible and often in the comments which settings these guys use.

Naw, my 8-6 is relatively stock aside from some nice springs :P And yeah I got all the aids off, but I'm mainly having a difficult time adjusting the FFB to suit drifting. So far I've just been experimenting and whatnot.
