G27 pauses/skips during calibration

I bought my g27 in mid February and ever since I've had it, it has always skipped or paused when calibrating on my ps3. Then the other day I noticed it was doing it more. When I fire up my ps3 and its plugged, it starts to calibrate, after about 5 degrees of rotation to the right, it pauses and the lights flash on the steering wheel, then it goes to full lock on the right and then to the left with no more skips or pauses. Then I fire up gran turismo 5 and it proceeds to calibrate again. It goes to the right about 5-10 degrees then does the pause, lights flicker on and off then it goes to about 135 degrees and does the same thing, then full lock to lock with no other pauses. I spoke with a buddy of mine and he said his doesn't pause at all and his returns to center. Mine returns to perfect center when firing up the ps3 but during the gt5 calibration, it's slightly off to the right.

I've tried unplugging everything, then plugging it back up and into the ps3 with the same result. I also uninstalled all my game data, then reinstalled it. Any ideas?

Hey wins. My g27 always paused while calibrating. As long as the car drives straight when its over your ok. If the car was pulling left or right then the optic sensor wheel could be at fault. It's the weak link in the wheel for sure.

Hey drex. It drives straight as far as I can tell. I asked phisher about his wheel, and his goes lock to lock and then centers without any problems. I noticed mine starting doin it worse after 2.11 and 2.12

Mine has always done this from day one, 18 months ago. Works perfectly in-game though.

The pause is like a fraction of a second?

And the wheel not stopping dead true at the end of calibrating is (I guess) just the speed of the wheel rotating. Mine stops about 1-2 degrees to right.

But as I said, it works perfectly in GT5, so I've never given it any concern. I just thought that was how it did things.

That's what I thought too. Then I noticed after I updated that it added an extra skip. When it's doing the ps3 calibration it goes perfect center with one pause. And yes, it pauses for a fraction of a second kind of like its losing power.
I've watched videos of it calibrating and none of the videos have the skip

If you fire up GT5, plug in the USB cable first then the power, it shouldn't pause during calibration. I think the USB connection seems to get interrupted just after it is first recognised causing the pause.

I normally plug everything in but leave the wheel's power switched off at the wall, then turn on the wheel once GT5 is loading.

Okay thanks, I'll give it a try. I remember reading somewhere to have everything plugged up prior to starting the ps3 as it would cause calibration issues. I'll let you know how it goes when I get home tonight.

I've also posted the problem on the Logitech forums. Maybe someone there has an idea

Sorry for the double post, but here's an update. I got a response from the forums stating there might be a problem with the feedback.. I contacted the Logitech support over the phone and all they told me to was, unplug everything and wait 30 seconds and plug everything back up. I did that again with the same result. So now they sent me an email wanting my serial number. I'll update again once I hear something back.

My G27 exhibited similar characteristics from new.
I found when I giggled the power plug connection underneath the wheel it would come good, if I giggled again it wouldn't work.
I pulled the wheel to bits and I found a 'dry' connection inside the wheel on the female of the power plug. It looked like the internal power connection was riveted. I soldered this connection and I haven't had any problems since.

I've tried jiggling the power cord and never got that problem. Plus I'm not to good at taking stuff apart then getting it back together right lol in waiting on a response from Logitech to see what they want to do about it

Update: I hadn't heard from Logitech in a couple of days so I called then up. I spoke with someone that understood english a lot better and they said that's definitely an issue with the wheel. Now I get to box up my wheel and send it back for a replacement. Yay :/
