I'm not sure what to buy.
No matter what I buy, I'm going to be spending at least $600.

It's either I buy an awesome setup with a really good wheel or I buy only an absolutely amazing wheel that I know I won't have problems with it by means of programming it.
The only reason why I'm not considering the PlaySeat and the T500RS is because I don't have that much money.

The only gripe I seem to have about the T500RS is that it doesn't have a proper gear shift, but yet has a clutch? Hmmm, I sense add-on here and I just won't have to money afterword to buy what it looks like a > $100 shifter.

And if any PlaySeat and/or T500RS owners are reading this, would you be so kind as to enlighten me with any positive and/or negative comments you may have about whatever it is that you own.

I'd rather hear your comments on here as opposed to PlaySeat's or Thrustmaster's websites.

Personally, if I had the space, I'd go for the PlaySeat and the G27 because even if you get the T500Rs, you need something to mount it on and a comfortable seat. I use a little TV tray with my DFGT and I have to work hard to keep the whole thing in place. So if you go with the T500RS and use a sub-par mounting setup, you may not be able to enjoy it properly. Plus the G27 comes with the shifter and feels pretty good from what I have tried of it.

A T500RS owner would be able to best tell the difference in feel, but just from what I've seen I would go with the seat and G27.

If you have a desk you play at, then a racing seat isn't really necessary. I would say you'd want the awesome wheel and worry about a racing seat later. Go for the T500.

I'm getting the T500RS and building my own seat. For the money you spend on a Play Seat you can build a rig that fits you.

I recommend going to the Steering wheel sub-forum: https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=163

A quick and simple advice. If you have a desk that you can rest the wheel and your monitor/TV, I'd get the T500RS. Even if you don' have one, I'd still go for the T500RS. The FFB in any good sims is what makes the experience. As good as the G27 is (I'm proud owner of a G25) is, it pales in comparison to the T500RS especially when it comes to the quality of the steering and FFB (due to the strength of its motor and the fact that its belt driven).

G27 and home-made stand FTW :D

I've heard terrific stuff about the TR500 but I really doubt it's worth that much money, specially when you'll have to spend even more to buy the shifter. If you think it's worth it, then go for it, you'll enjoy it a lot. I made the suggestion of G27 because it's the wheel I have and I find it's amazing, and it can't find how the TR500 is worth the double of it's price. However, if you decide to buy the T500RS, stay with the idea of a home-made stand. I've not heard anything wrong about the TR500, but I have of Playseats and I find them too expensive really. Want a cockpit? Get the Obutto oZone, or make one that will cost you less and make you proud.

Just my opinion.

I have a T500RS + Playseat GT5
This replaced a G27 + a rickety set-up.

IMHO no comparison. T500RS is in a league of its own and worth the extra expense.

G27 it! I havent had any problems with it, it has good FFB and isnt noisy, steering feels well very well made, plus you get a shifter. The only fault is, you cant program the buttons. 4 of them on the wheel are useless, but that doesnt really matter.

Great wheel otherwise.

That's relative. Way less than the Ferrari 548 that I pine for...
For reference, I am not 14yrs old and living on my parents allowance.

Yep...that's the issue. $1000 for Sim Racing is a total no-no when you haven't even graduated from highschool :indiff:. Congratz on your setup though, may I ask how is the TR500 $300 better than a G27?

I bought a playseat and g27 off craigslist for 400. Then I installed a full surround sound on it with 4 speakers an a subwoofer under my butt!!
I velcro'd an old controller to the center of the wheel to use all the Ra functions!

You can't beat the racing seat! It's awesome! And the g27 is great I love it all!

Understandable and I realize that there are a lot of young gamers on a limited budget here.
There are also a small percentage of older gamers here like myself, who have more disposable income to play with.

The T500RS has a much more quality feel about it. Not revolutionary, but more like the next evolution in sim wheels. It's belt drive ffb is so much smoother and quieter than the G27. It's just a much higher quality system. $300 better? Well that depends on if you're spending tuition money, rent money or beer money. HTH.

FWIW I'm a university professor - study up 👍

I can't thank all of you enough for everything you've said.

Before I started this thread, I was about 65% G27 + PlaySeat and 35% T500RS.
Now I'm about 70% T500RS and 30% G27 + PlaySeat. :D

I'll be a high school senior this coming fall. I currently have about $500 saved up and I plan on getting a job pretty soon, so I think I should have enough to buy at least the T500RS by the end of the year. Besides, I'm sure I can fix myself some sort of setup afterwords. Whether I decide on the T500RS or the G27 combo, I'll be one happy kid. Thank you all again. :)
