So I've had my G27 since I got my PS3 / GT5p a little over a year ago, and overall I've liked it just fine - up until now. A couple weeks ago, my shifter started wigging out - it would often only shift into 1 or 2 without significant fiddling - before completely failing. As of now, all 3 forward gates (1, 3, 5) only select 1st gear, and all 4 downward gates (2, 4, 6 / R) only select 2nd. Upon disassembling and inspecting the shifter unit, I suspect that the x-axis rotation sensor on the shifter has failed (basically the shifter can only identify up-down movement), which was confirmed through disconnection said sensor.

I've been dealing with Logitech support all week, who have basically given me the run-around because I'm out of warranty. I tried to get them to identify other products I could cannibalize for the part I need, but they just kept telling me "replacement sensors aren't available". They DID offer me a 50% off code for their E-store - which is a nice gesture - BUT the G27 is back-ordered with no estimate on when it will be back in stock. So I'm basically stuck paying at least $150 and waiting months(?) for a replacement wheel, all because a 50-cent part failed.

Anybody here had this problem with their G27 / G25? The guy who answered my question on the Logitech support forum said "that's odd, I've never heard of that". I'm wondering if I really got a lemon, or if this is perhaps a more common problem with a better solution then total replacement?
