So I got a nrg steering wheel laying around and I don't have 45$ to spend on an adapter.

I got the specs from a friend to make a g27 to real steering wheel adapter, but I am wondering If I can just make it out of a hardwood such as oak. I'd love to make it out of aluminum, if it wasn't sold by a big block.

How heavy is the new wheel to be fitted.
Probably a lot more than the G27.

FF will feel muted if that's the case. Also you may do damage to any bearing system on the wheel base.

I think its around 7 pounds. I'm not sure as I got it off the amazon shipping weight when I tried looking for it online.

Just be careful mate. It might look the part but if you lose FF sensation is it worth it.

The G wheel is rather light. This helps to give the FF some snap to it.

Lots and lots of people have attached all kinds of after market wheels to their G27. I wouldn't imagine your new wheel causing any lag in FFB unless it weighs significantly more than the stock rim.

As far as a wooden adapter, I can't see any good reason why it shouldn't work so long as you make it thick enough. Also I would advise some sort of metal threaded insert for the wheel to bolt to.

How much does the stock wheel weights? I'm considering a 4kg wheel, would it make much difference?
