So my old faithful g27. (3 years 50k miles) has been feeling strange. When it's powered up, the wheel feels very rough and notchy when turning, almost like a ratchet. It isn't THAT bad but noticeable. I took it all apart (I can never keep my hands off broken thing) and inspected it and cleaned and lubed it all and every thing is smoother and quieter but the ratchety feel is still there. BUT if I unplug the USB it feels perfectly smooth like it should and spins easily.

Just wondering if it just wear and tear on the gears or if I can do/modify anything.

Basically have any of YOU encountered this?

Thanks and happy thanksgiving!

Mine is exactly like this, however once it is warmed up it isn't so bad. I guess its just normal after being used for a while.

could be motor bearings, or brushes.

It feels like one motor is too tight or fighting against the other.

It hasn't gotten better or worse.

I've taken it apart and lubed up the plastic gears and none of the motors are loose or anything?

It's louder and more pronounced steering right, but its there both ways. But if I unplug it then everything feels fine??

I dont but you can pick some up from a hobby shop or just google some but make sure that they are the same motors as the G27 just brushless

Unless you have seen some motors I haven't, this is not possible?

Brushless motors have 3 terminals, and switches phase every 60° of rotation.. whereas brushed motors just have a positive and a negative terminal..

I've been looking for just stock replacement motors and can't even get them anywhere..

It feels like the motor is surging and choppy.

Maybe I'll just save to get another for 2 player battles!

My g25 has something going on and i think it might be the pedals but if its not and can't find the problems i'll sell you both my motors but idk yet i'll let you know if something happens

I just received a brand new g27 today and it is exactly as you described. I'm not too savvy when it comes to racing wheels, but I expected it to be smooth when steering in game and not ratchety/clicky. So is this normal otherwise I'm going to sell it.
