Hey Everyone!

I am a current G27 wheel user, and man i love it! but since Logitech may stop making wheels or if they already announced that they wont make anymore, then thats the case, im not sure on that story..

But i want your guys thoughts? Does the G27 still one of the best wheels out there?

Or in your OPINION, what is your favorite wheel? I just used the G27 so i cant say much other than i enjoy it a lot

I have Looked at the Fanatic Wheels (BMW race car wheel) i find it look awesome with the clip on for the BMW wheel

my only problem there is the price and is the pedal set good?

and for other wheels, Masterthrust (i think its called that) how are they?

other wheels??

Thanks

I've had my G27 for 2 years now, I don't think it could be called "one of the best in the world"...
then which wheel could be called one of the best in the world?

For commercial wheels it's Thrustmaster T500RS and Fanatec CSW. A side-step from the G27 to Fanatec Porsche wheels would see differences of:

- belt drive
- on-wheel settings
- better pedal options

For some the differences would make a side-step worth it. For others, only an up-step would yield a significant enough difference.

Best in the world would probably have to be either the top Senso wheel or the Leo Bodnar wheel. But those are very expensive indeed and the Senso wheels may not work for regular PC games or sims. Neither works on consoles. There are also ECCI and Frex, as well as the ARC G27. I would venture to guess that all of these have better or at least more realistic force feedback than the T500 and CSW.

I guess the word best is a bit subjective depending on what is meant. As far as best force feedback I would definitely say one of those first two. But as far as the best choice for most gamers it depends heavily on one's requirements.

From another angle,
You can always modify your wheel. On the G27 at least, it's possible to do a wheel swap, pedal mount change, pedal pressure change, and (through a very difficult procedure) FFB change.

After doing a lot of research, the G27 is actually extraordinarily durable and so I'll be quite happy to keep and mod mine...

I offered my opinion over here in a thread I started on a T500RS Install I'm doing:
... The G27, in my opinion, is the best FFB algorithm. It is the wheel that gives the driver the most natural feedback as to what the car is doing. I have run back to back tests with a T500 and G27 with several real race cars drivers and to their surprise, the feel of the G27 is the one they like the most. It is very accurate at telling you where the front tires are an the way into the corner, but is the best at providing you with timely information as to when the back starts to break loose. The T500 is very good at both as well, and combined with its stronger and smoother motor, gives a great drive. But the G27, even with the stock wheel, is just a bit better.

A good friend has a CSR Elite wheel and I have quite a bit of miles done with it. We can proudly say that his wheel has never given him any problems! But even after several firmware updates, the FFB algorithm is behind the Logitech and Thrustmaster offerings.

So why did I choose the T500, especially when I dislike the pedals and would prefer the paddles to be on the wheel? Well it is about long term durability. I use my rig for fun and as a teaching/learning tool for real cars, so I need to know that what I'm doing today will be the same as in several months from now :)
...

I've also had a DFPro and loved it, but I felt a much stronger immersive feel with the G27. The G27 is much more subtle and complex in FFB, and I love changing gear with a stick! In fact, I find the shifter on the G27 very good and quite quick at changing gear, but prefer the more realistic feel of the TH8RS (hence it's what I now use).

And the G27 pedals are my favourite. Combine them with a GTEYE brake spring and it is the 2nd best thing to hydraulics (I'm NOT a load cell fan, my brain does not think it is brakes...). I started a discussion on this quite a while ago called Sim Brake Thoughts, it stayed pretty much on subject and brought in a lot of interesting ideas and arguments :)

how are the brakes on the fanatic V2 Pedals? Any good? (Im a circuit racer..or well i run road course racing in my league and other leagues throughout the weak) so im all about the good brakes, gas, clutch, and really good feel for the wheel. and i do love the G27, i just want others opinions what they think of the G27, some said the G27 is like a toy compared to other wheels, are there better wheels out there?

You guys should listen to Pilmat, he actually works building real race cars so he knows what he is talking about. I will add that while I love the clutch on my V2 Clubsport pedals, NOTHING beats the Perfect Pedal, nada. So trying to figure out a way to get that perfect pedal mounted to the V2s. Stay tuned kiddies.

That is all well and good, but how many of the high-end wheels that are out there have you actually used, Pilmat? It bears mentioning that one can't really offer a qualified opinion just because one builds or drives racecars. It still requires actually using the different wheels to give a real review of the wheels. I think Pilmat has clearly used the DFP, CSR Elite, T500 and the G27, but how about Bodnar, Senso, Frex, or ECCI? If the G27 beats all of these I would be quite surprised, to put it mildly.
