I don't know what the staff at G4 is smoking but, this is a useless award show, ad most of the games you can predict will win and some of their choices are questoinable and make you go "what? That's what you picked? Really?"

Examples:
Best Animation went to NBA2K11 beating out God of War 3 and a couple others that deserved it better.

Best Racing Game went to Split/Second. Does anyone actually play this game? I mean, I played both demos and with the second one, there was NO ONE online. I mean, and it won against Blur, GT5, NFS HP, and ModNation Racers...all of which are better, in my opinion than Split/Second.

The "Viewers Choice" was apparently Starcraft II. I don't know how accurate that is, since G4 constantly talks about how much they love the game.

And Limbo keeps winning. I mean, it's a great artistic game and I'm sure it deserved a couple of the awards, but there were a couple games I thought would be better.

It's almost as if G4 took all the candidates, put them in a hat and thus picked them randomly.

About best racing game part: I think G4 guys are obsessed with arcade racers. Split/Second is arcade racer, IMO. :grumpy:

ehh, I would take these awards with a a grain of salt. I never go to G4 for anyting about games since I find myself disagreeing with their opinions quite often. I only watch G4 for Ninja Warrior nowadays.

I wasn't even aware G4 even existed still let alone actually had anything to do with video games anymore. Seems like all they ever air are Cops and Cheater's reruns.

As for the awards themselves, you can never really tell much by them as it's nearly the opinions of a small group of people and the fan based ones are just that of whatever it is userbase. I would guess that the games that got "snubbed" by G4 will win elsewhere, this is why there are 50 different "game of the year" editions every year.

Still, something good came out of this discussion; Ninja Warrior is the best TV show I've discovered this year.

I haven't played NBA2K11, but from the quality of the stills, it wouldn't surprise me if the animation really was impressive enough to win; those close-up screens often look real enough to make you look twice.
