I'm running winxp with only 120 mb ram (i know, i know), and an onboard 8mb video card. I'm currently getting 30 fps on Counter strike. I'm getting 512 mb ram this evening and was curious if I could expect like maybe a 20 fps boost from this. I rather spend the money on ram rather than graphics card because it would be rather useless to get a badass video card with only 120 mb card.

Don't expect a big jump like 20 FPS. The bottlenecks are still the CPU and video card.

the windows Services guide here should give you a good 5-10% boost in frame rate. It disables a LOT of the unnecessary crap windows has running in the background. I don't let my computers go without it now that I've found it.

Rather then ram, try getting a radeon 9200 and an additional 128 megs of ram. It'll cost you a bit more but the performance improvement by those 2 upgrades side by side will be very noticeable.

You'll probably see a bigger boost in buying an agp videocard. But I would buy more ram also. 120 megs of ram is not even the recommended amount to even run XP in the first place.
