Nicest part of hell
Hi!

Short question:

I just modified my Lamborghini Gallardo with sideskirts, a rear diffusor and front bodywork - which was surprisingly expensive. (I'm at level 17, I think it was 20k each part)
It looks good and all, but I was shocked because I couldn't see any numbers of downforce in the tuning menu, just the rear wing? 0 downforce front. :guilty:

Did I waste my money just for looks? Sideskirts and a proper fitting diffusor with a very low ride height should increase downforce quiet a bit.

Just in case it doesn't add any performance upgrades, you can feel fine knowing that it wasn't a total waste. The Gallardo has one of the few beautiful body kits available to cars in GT5.

For some reason, those front splitters don't seem to do much, whereas in real life they can be hghly affective..

There was another thread on this, very few cars (if any) get any kind of front downforce from any of the front splitters / spoilers / wings you fit on them from GT auto. Well, no figures show up when you try and tune them in settings.

The Ferrari's SP1's front spoiler costs 125,000 and you don't get a single bit of front downforce..

I bought the Gallardo and modified it with the wings as well early in the game. I was at first a little miffed that I had to buy it. After I got it I did a tune on it and it has become a real workhorse. 👍 My B-spec drivers really like it and have won a lot of races with it. You have to get it tuned just right.

Yes, its a pretty good car, I tuned it to the max and with the right settings I do 6:42 on the 'Ring with stickshift - and I'm not even pushing. With carbon hood, black rims and countach green paint it looks beautiful.

So, I really don't want to waste forum space so another question if you guys don't mind: I'm going to race the Schwarzwald League B and I want to use a BMW, any suggestions which model? I want one that is quick and fun to drive, I really dont want to buy one just for the race and sell it afterwards. :indiff:

Well, if you don't want to buy one and really want to use one - could you please inform us of what BMW's you currently have..?!

Or do you mean you want to buy a good BMW now, and keep it, rather than buying a bad BMW now then selling it at a later date because you don't like it?

Most of the cars you'll race against are heavy - 1600kgs or more and are quite powerful 450-550bhp.

These cars will be on tyres with not much grip, compared to the selection you have available to you from tuning.

There's also many different BMW's in the USED delaership that don't appear in the NEW delaership, such as the M3 gtr and the M3 csl, so you have a few options available to you.

Easy option / answer - M5, lighten it, add full racing exhaust (including manifold) system or NA engine tune and air filter, sports soft tyres or above and that should be fine. But same theory can apply to M3 or even Z4 M aswell - more power, less weight, better tyres maybe suspension upgrade and you should be fine.

YES! I really don't want to buy cars that aren't much fun and I sell later, just because I needed them to win a single race. I don't have any German cars now so I'll go with BMW, I had a fully tuned BMW which was a blast in GT4 even though it wasn't THAT powerful with a 470 HP engine, I just can't remember the exact model. :ouch: I think it was the standard M3.

I saw the M3 GTR but I missed it , sadly, I'll race a few races, maybe some new used BMW's pop up, if not I'll give the M5 a run. Thanks for the great help. 👍

Go for the M5 or Z4 M now and when you see the M3 gtr and / or M3 csl in the Used Dealership buy them aswell 👍

I seen the M3 GTR bunch of times now in the used Dealership, accompanied by the CSL.

I think when i left the game this morning, there was a M3 GTR in the used dealership.

I can check later again (without doing any races) if it's still there. Maybe I can acquire or share it with you :)

I can attest that the Standard M3s are a complete blast to race. With proper upgrades - suspension, tranny, tires and stuff, they handle much like a race car, since they essentially are. The M3 GTR is fairly close to a civilian DTM.

After buying the bodykits, you'll find that very few cars have a static value of positive downforce for the front (GTR SpecV has +2, McLaren F1 has +20, to name a couple), with only the rear downforce being adjustable. A lot of the cars in the game have a value of 0 that is non-adjustable (Ferrari 599, Aston Martin DB9, to name a couple). It's slightly disappointing, but ah well.

Audi R8 5.2 is a safer bet if you get the Torque Centre Dif.

This guy specifically requested a BMW..

Agreed though, the R8 is rather good, personnally I prefer it to the BMWs.
