Game crashes before/after races

I am having a problem with GT5, where when I try to race online, the game crashes. Sometimes it works perfectly, but now if Im in the server and the track changes, the my controller locks up and I am unable to do anything, besides quit. This also happens after a race, while viewing results. I was unable to find a solution through searching, so I decided to ask.

More info: It seems to happen when I join a server in the middle of a race. When the race ends, everything in the game locks up to the way it was except the camera screen that is showing the track. I also, still hear people over mics.
Any ideas?
 
Improve your Internet connection somehow..
I had very similar problems whilst using wireless connection, about 50% signal strength. I now use a wired connection that is a lot faster and I haven't had a problem since. I used to get stuck at the results screen alot!
