Game Freezing/Loading time

Okay, so today I have had real problems getting onto Gran Turismo.

At 1st, I couldn't get past the main menu, the game just froze. Then, it wouldn't actually let me any further past the whole "Do you want to install this to your HDD?" I finally got past it all after resetting the PS3 multiple times, but after that it froze when I went to go online.

After a few more attempts I finally got online, but now I go back onto the Ps3 and same problem... The game seems to load no problem when I am not signed in to PSN, but I only play GT5 for online now so that is pointless...

Any fixes to this problem? I have a racing series tomorrow and I don't want to miss it.
 
Why is your ps3 asking you about installing the game to your HDD?
 
Try installing the data to your HDD without your internet connected. Once finished replug and report back.
 
It's not just that though, say i am in offline practise mode and i then sign onto psn, the whole game just freezes.

hmm, try going to network options ingame, clear network cache or something similar. Under network tab I think.

IN GAME -> Options (the gear button) -> Network (at the bottom of the list) -> Clear Cache

That should do the job... I get that problem quite a bit and clearing cache fixes it...

Also, you MAY need to just power cycle (restart) the PS3 too.

When you race a lot online and in game is stores the data for every car you race against with color and tuning settings... every so often its a good idea to clear the cache (I do it about once a week or 2)
 
Nothing worked. Tried a new disc, nothing.

Bought a new PS3.

Wow, this sounds more serious than I first thought, no need to buy a new PS3 though. We would of got it fixed eventually :P

Nope, PS3 was freezing on other games too. Think the laser was going. Going to still use the other one though.
 
I don't believe it. Same problem with the new PS3.
 
So now you have 2 PS3's, 2 GT5's, and a problem.

Maybe it's your internet, your gaming room, your setup, your climate outside, your climate inside, being mean to the PS3,

Well it has been fine for the last year. This is absolutely stupid.

1 more PS3, 1 more game and 2 more TVs and he would have my dream setup (if he has the wheel too) :drool:

BTW on another note my PS3 has been going black off and on lately.... Im so hoping I dont have to buy another one... I was doing the AMG School Thursday while PSN was down and it blacked out for 20 seconds and I crashed having to start the ring over again....

I dont find it funny at all... just saying maybe something good can come out of it in the end if you wanted...

Shoot, like I said I am afraid my PS3 is about to kick the bucket soon too :sick:
 
I am having the same problem,Ive tried everything,reinstalled the game 3 times no help,it works fine if i don't sign in PSN,I had my INTERNET upgraded sill the same

Hmmm... Good point.... DaxCobra, are you on PSN when trying to play????

Ive been trying to think since I read the post as to why this is happening...

In tech we troubleshoot by removing items to find the cause (My speakers/amp were blown on my Home Entertainment System and the problem happened on both PS3 and my cable (both HDMI) so I knew it wasnt them so I disconnected the speakers from the TV and the problem stopped... so its not the TV and has to be the Home Entertainment System...)

So, we know now its not your PS3 doing it... or your game disk as you've changed both of them... that would leave the internet system, your TV and maybe a few other items...

Question:
What exactly does it do... Is it just slow loading or are you having other issues too... I mean, do you have screen blackouts? What are some other issues your having?

If I am logged onto PS3 and try to load the game, it just freezes. I then hit the XMB Button, log out of PSN and it loads as usual. I realise now the problem is trying to connect to the GT5 server.

Right, before you waste more money, lets go through some Q&A.

GT5 and ALL other games work fine offline?

ALL other games except GT5 work fine online?

Freezes whilst trying to connect to GT5 servers?

If you answer yes to these, the problem lies with your ISP.

edit - or for some reason your router/modem is trying (without you knowing) to block access for some reason.

So how do I sort out my ISP?
 
Well thats the area I was worried about trying to help you with, I don't really know.

All I do know is, try forwarding/opening all your ports (don't ask how)

Do a speed test at www.speedtest.net and post the result.
 
Call sony they can help you setup all your settings for this problems. Or at least they will let you know what you need to tell your internet provider how to help.
 
the issue I have been having is joining rooms it will go into the room then just as my names comes up "scud77 has joined the room" I get disconnected from server, I can get into rooms after a couple of tries and create them no problem but then exiting usually leaves me with a frozen screen which results in me having to quit the game, cache has been cleared from the ps3 both ingame and on the internet search. I believe it is GT's servers where the problem lies because all my other games have no issues at all online my pc/laptop/ipod all work perfectly and up to speed

It is unbelievably annoying, as I have spent a lot on a Wheel/Seat set up, and there is no other proper Sim on PS3.... >.<
 
Nothing wrong with the servers, works fine for me.
But, I think your router may be blocking the GT5 servers for some reason.

Other than that I dont know. Contact your ISP, explain the problem. They will most likely not be useful but may aswell try. After that try Sony.

Thanks a lot for all the help. Checked the routers etc, reset the whole thing, still doesn't work.

Will have to go to Sony next.
