Game freezing when an online race is starting.

I got into my first race fine, but my past 3 attempts have resulted in a black screen when the race starts. I can still hear sound, there's just no picture. I'm forced to use the PS button to quit game. Although it doesn't take me back to the XMB, it beeps three times and makes my PS3 restart. Then I gotta sit through that loading screen where they check if your files are corrupted. I'm afraid to try it anymore just for the sake of my PS3's safety.

Anyone else having this problem?
 
I had this problem on GT5, erasing the cache and sometimes changing the room solved it. Idk if you can erase your cache in GT6, if you can then erase it.
