My B-spec player had this problem first. Mazda Furai at Daytona - all of a sudden it couldn't go faster than 145 or so. Usually it will go over 200! I stopped the game, checked the tranny settings, and raced again. Same results. I took the car to the practice area -same results, even changing the tranny's top speed setting. Checked the engine for a rebuild - It said not needed.

Rebooted the PS3.

Now the Furai runs fine! Great! Entered the GT World Championship, and won race #1 (Sarthe). Entered race #2 - the Nurb. An A.I. car spun me early. I recovered, caught up to the pack, eventually passed everyone except 1 car, and passed that car just before the long straight. 1/3 of the way down the straight, suddenly I couldn't go faster than 145 or so. Everyone passed me! Reboot the PS3, and now the Furai is ok again! It'll go 200+. WTF?

Anyone else had this problem? Anyone got a fix for this? IMO - the game is broken!

Thanks for any help!
Pete

I dont know what to tell you, I mean that sucks. You could try clearing the cache in the options menu.

I haven't driven this car much but i'll try it out today.

How's your oil? Are you saving before the reboot? You might be hitting the same point if you are not. Running out of gas makes you go slow too.

Thanks, Grog. I emptied the Cache. No effect. This time I went to High Speed Ring with my Scuderia. Top speed was 130 - 131 (unusually low!), so I got my Furai again, came back to HSR, and the top speed was 145-146 (usually ~200mph).

Whatever the glitch is, it slows down a car's top speed. Players may not notice it since the top speed varies. It looks like its around 30% slower.

Any other ideas? Is it happening to you?

Is your wheel working fine as the reboot , reboots the wheel too ?

Good point, OP check the throttle display on the screen when your having this problem, make sure when its floored that the display is also floored. Your gas pedal could have a faulty or intermittent problem. This happened to my gas pedal but its at the other end of the spectrum, anyway the pointemeters or whatever they're called can go bad, and have.

I thought of the oil, too - I checked it on each car.

It looks like all I have to do is stop the game and restart it to fix the glitch, rather than reboot the PS3. The steering wheel reboots when the game reboots. Doing a save doesn't affect it. After saving and restarting the game, it happens again.

Now it seems to re-occur about 10 minutes into the game. I ran my Italia 458 and it happened, and changed to the Scuderia and also to the Furai. Same problem with all of them. Still around 30% loss of power.

I've never had a heat problem with the PS3 (it's a 20gb one). What the heck could this be?

** Checking the gas pedal display now... Checked: Gas pedal shows fully pressed down. Anything else?

As a few others have said, have you checked the throttle map? It could not be outputting 100% throttle even when you have the foot planted?

Because i certainly dont have that issue

Normally, i would say it should have been something with your wheel or something. I had such a problem with my DFGT: if i drag the brake pedal, it goes on a position higher than the normal returning position, but meanwhile the brake axis is "calibrated" in a longer distance. The result is that the normal returning position is actually braking the car a bit. The solution was pretty easy for this: just plag the pedals off and on again, then it's working just fine (as soon as i don't drag the brake pedal again).

The strange thing is that you said about B-spec, so i really can't tell you why is this happening...

Bingo! The pedals were plugged into the wheel securely. I checked it. But just for curiosity, I unplugged them and replugged them and that seems to have fixed it - for now. Good job, guys - your instincts were good! Now I hope it STAYS fixed.

Many thanks!

I don't know if this fits in here, but it seems really unlogical to me if there's a problem with the peddals that your bob would go slower. That's kind of weird to me. Can anyone of you come up with an answer for this?

Or is it just like as in software programming? The front bumber falls off because there's a problem with the rear-left tire?

I use the control buttons on my wheel to get Bob running, so I guess that connection must override the acceleration. That's my best guess. Still, its strange.

Selotape is your friend, my pedal wire is taped to my wheel to avoid moments where you have no brakes in the middle of an onlline race.
