Has anyone written any tools that can be used on a PC to interact with a game save?

Is enough information even available?

Has anyone ever tried to do this?

Tool ideas:

a) Generate a listing of A-Spec (and/or) B-spec points achieved and/or missing. With this info you could focus on races that improve your points.

b) Listing of races showing: Raced/Not Raced, Position achieved, Cars owned that could race it, Have license for it. This would solve the common problem of "not knowing what race to do next".

c) This might be harder, since it would have to parse the game files, but it would be awesome to have a tool that read the DVD and listed all the possible opponents for a given race. This would give us a very good idea of what car to use for an "even" and satisfying race.

Sort of..... i know which cars will give me roughly each "set" of A-Spec points in each race... and i do know which cars my B-Spec Fernando (what?) hates. So yes, in a sense.

I am talking about software tools, running on a PC, operating on a save file transferred from the PS/2 to the PC.

Since the information is in the save file, it should be feasible for a program to read it and generate the outputs I described.

Theoretically it's possible as the PS2 does exactly the same. How hard it would be depends on how complicated the data is encoded in the file.

If you knew that you should be able to read the file, generate the stats, and if you know the possible values you could make your own "perfect" save game. Whether that's a good or bad tool to have I don't know.

Problem is - The Savegame from GT4 is a F'in b**** to work with... It's encrypted unlike the easy to read saves from GT3...
