Does anyone else find it difficult to use the cockpit view with the gamepad?

I'm so used to using a wheel, and it matching perfectly with the ingame wheel, I use visual cues from the ingame wheel angle to help me place the car.

When using the gamepad there is some kind of steering sensitivity setting to compensate for the limited stick movement, in my experience this results in even the slightest touch sending the ingame wheel to extreme angles, totally screwing up my previous wheel technique.

As a last resort I switched to the bumper and bonnet cams and found without the distraction of the ingame wheel, I could at least drive the car in a similar manner as when using a wheel.

This is the first time this issue has arisen for me personally, seeing as there was no cockpit view in previous GT games, while I've never attempted to use a pad with a PC sim.

I just thought I'd share my observations for wheel users who every now and again wish to relax on the couch with a game pad, but still set competitive times.

I never used cockpit view with the Sixaxis controller. I switched to G25 yesterday and I must say it works way better with the internal cockpit view. If you use a pad, there is some form of steering assistance to compensate for the limited range of motion of the sticks/buttons. Very different from driving a wheel. Compensating or recovering from a bump/crash is easier with a controller.

Most of the time I use my G25 and cockpit view. It's perfect.
Then I try the PAD and cockpit view and it sucks!
haha You are right, it's odd to drive like that

I've noticed that in cockpit view while using a wheel, if you turn your wheel to it's max turn angle, the cockpit wheel doesn't turn as far, which kind of puts me off a bit.

With a pad I use bumber cam, gives a good sense of speed in that view, as it's close to the tarmac.

I used to drive with the bumper cam in GT5P because that's what I was used to and I was faster. Now I only drive in the cockpit and still use the DS3. I like it a lot, the lighting effects are simply awesome. I think I'm ok as far as my race pace but it's just more eye candy and feels more realistic when you're driving...

Especially if you're driving the DB9, how can you NOT drive in the cockpit?
