Hey guys.

I've been using wheels for many years with my PS3. But come to think of it, all I've really played in 5 odd years is GT5P, GT5, dirt 3, F1:CE (Horrible..) and all the codemaster F1 series.

I use my wheel on a daily basis, but on the same games.. again and again. Never really got bored. I find GT5 and Codies F1 titles worked brilliantly with my wheel, whilst dirt was a little sensitive and F1:CE was horrendous.

Which games, on the basis of a good handling model and very good with a wheel, would you recommend?

P.S Felt this should go in this part of the forum as I'm looking for games that are specifically good with wheels, remember - I have a PS3, but feel free to add other games for non PS3-users so everyone can benefit.

Cheers.

PC titles rF1, rF2, iRacing there are dozens out there old & new. with just PS3 you are limited tbh

What wheel do you have?
I played F1:CE A LOT with my old driving force pro and thought it was far superior to the Codemasters games.

Other than that, and the other games you listed, I can't think of much else on the PS3 that I would consider worth playing. Make the switch to PC though and you open up a world of opportunities; iRacing and RFactor2 are awesome, GTR2 and Race 07 (and all expansions there upon) are quite fun as well. There's also RFactor 1 which I never really played but I'm told is quite good once you get the settings right and sometime (hopefully) in the next year we will see Assetto Corsa which has a lot of hype built up around it and is expected to be very good as well.

rF2 has the best ffb out there! my G27 got a new life when I have started to play rF2!

:D im opposite I hate rF2 with my old G27 one of the reasons I went with CSW as once ORSM (or others) do a V8 series on rF2 we will be going there eventually

I would say the best ps3 game for a wheel is Ferrari challenge. You should be able to get it for a couple bucks. It feels alot better then gt5.

Ferrari challenge was fun. Especially on Paul ricard/rain. Felt the brakes were weak though, had to break 4 times earlier than on f1 2012 (which is natural but felt weird) and a lot earlier than a similar car on gt5.

PC's are expensive, and tbh I don't understand all this modding and stuff. Seems the PS3 oozes convienience.

I do love going sideways, best current rallying game for a wheel?

As other have said, Ferrari Challenge is pretty decent with the wheel (you have to alter some in-game settings to your preference). You can buy it pretty cheap as used I presume, or you can buy it directly from PS Store under the title Ferrari Race Experience (have few extra cars, extra track and some updates in the "Experience" version).

Another game you can find used in UK or you can buy it from the PS Store is Test Drive: Ferrari Racing Legends. Feel free to check my suggestion regarding in-game settings for the wheel here. It is one of my favourite games regarding wheel-sensation from this whole generation.

Also, on the UK PS Store you can find pretty cheap NASCAR The Game 2011 (made by Eutechnyx, same studio that made Ferrari Challenge in 2009) which gives great insight into NASCAR universe, it is very fun and it also have good FFB support.

There is also one special game, it is not stellar, but I somehow have appreciation for it - Superstars V8 Next Challenge. It is more a niche-game for fun. Buy it if you find it somewhere in the used-bin for cheap.

As for rallying, you can go only with current WRC3 game (most decent of the series), however be warned that wheel-handling is a bit twitchy - IMO game is optimised for the controller and for the wheel in 200-degree mode (even not 270).

I respect Nascar drivers very highly but I just dont see the fun in a Nascar game. Oval after oval after oval. No doubt a few attempts would be fun, but I'd get bored pretty quick.

WRC3 seems nice, definitely going to pick it up. The same goes for V8 supercars (assuming its the aussie racing series?) which I do watch quite frequently.

Who made Test Drive: Ferrari Racing Legends? I assumed it was part of the Test Drive franchise and therefore presumed it was a bit arcadey. Even if it was a sim, it'll probably have the same problem as Ferrari challenge - all the same cars for every race, no setup options or tuning etc.

Cheers for the advice though. Is V8 supercars any good with a wheel?

V8supercars 2/3 is a PS2 game for (playstation) also called Toca 1/2/3 I think Forza4 has some type of V8sc in it for 360 though

Apart from f1, wrc and moto gp I really love the Aussie v8. High calibre cars and drivers, wish they'd made a dedicated game.

Grid 1/2/3 any good for the wheel?

There's only been one Grid so far. Do you mean Dirt?
I've played Dirt 3 a bit with my G27 and its a good bit of fun but I just like the strangeness of driving a fast car through a forest, for my serious sim racing time I stick to circuit racing. As far as the wheel feel goes it's very lively as one might expect but I would say not very realistic (not that I've actually done any rallying but still) if that's what you're after. Its definitely worth a try, especially if you're the kind of person who wishes there was more to GT5's rally mode. You could probably find it used or in a clearance bin someplace if you wan't to try it out.
