So, my question to you; Do games on XP run smoother then games on Vista?

I'm asking because my RAM is actually too low for Vista (1 GB), my games do work, but if they'll run smoother on XP, then I'll change since I don't care for Vista's fancy visual crap. The reason I'm wondering is because a couple of days earlier, while watching required specs for a game, it said:

"At least 1Gb required for XP, at least 2 Gb required for Vista..."

So if that would make any sense, I could play my games on a better quality level in XP and fully enjoy those games...

If you ever changed from XP to Vista or vica-versa, did you ever noticed anything?

How about DX9 vs. DX10?

Not so much a difference other than some games won't work..... Games that support DX10 also require Vista and a DX10 card. Unless you're concerned about the added eye candy that DX10 gives you or if you don't have a DX10 card, XP is a much better OS for gaming.

Well I had Vista before and tried to run CS:S on it. It was so laggy. My mic didn't work. I got booted out and I lagged ridiculously.

CS:S and DOD:S, well HL2 games are running much better now with recent patches. A year ago it was hell, works fine now on my system.

I have Counterstrike : Source and it runs alot better on Vista then it ever did on my XP box.

I just don't like how Vista doesn't see all of my RAM. I have 4 GB but it only sees up to 3.5GB. I wonder if it uses all 4 although it only sees/shows 3.5?

I haven't noticed differences in speed, but that's because I haven't been able to compare them on the same hardware. I have noticed, however, that GTA crashes more on Vista, and half my modification programs don't work.

That's because you're running 32-bit Vista, 64-bit can see and use 4gb of RAM.

I just won't get vista period. I guess that's one more reason I went console too.

Last game I played on XP was the COD4 demo and it was choppy unless I turned stuff down.
