Garage bug/cars unusable

Hey, new to the forum... name is Sean. đź‘Ť


So i joined to get some help with this issue on my GT5 save.

2 weeks ago I started playing GT5 again... and I bought like 3 million credit worth of cars during that time.

Then, I updated my game with the 2.03 update, and now all those cars I accumulated in the last 2 weeks or so are in my garage, but i can't select them by pressing X. it just makes the sound, but does nothing.

when i press triangle, i have all the options i have for other cars, get clicking get in, doesn't work, it does nothing.

if I go to gift this car, or set thumbnail in the pop up menu from pressing triangle... it goes to a black screen, then the GT logo comes up, and it kicks me out to the main menu.

I've bought new cars, and they work fine... and all of the cars I accumulated before i started playing again 2 weeks ago, work fine as well.

I'd really like to get a fix to this, because i really want to use my Honda HSC concept... that i painted an absolutely sick orange colour... it is a very rare car in the used car store... plus i bought some semi-rare, amuse cars, and a mines evo. none of them are selectable... although, im actually most bummed about not being able to use my new Lexus GS300.... I love that car.

if anyone has any ideas/ insight, please let me know.

I might try deleting all of my data files... but would rather not do that and go through another 4 plus hours of downloading updates, installing the game, and installing data to the HDD.

any help will make my day,

Firstly, don't install the HDD installation, even if it does prompt you. Its indicated effects will not always work, sadly.


It sounds like your problem is a bit extreme. I never heard such an epidemic as of yet. Have you tried doing the same on a different account, to make sure it isn't your disc? Or used different controllers?
 
Try updating to 2.04. There's mention of cars being unuseable, so this will hopefully fix your problem.


- Fixed an issue where if the game is started without signing in online and then saved, the cars and tracks included in the Racing Car Pack and Course Pack would become unusable.

Perhaps it's related?

2.04 is the latest I hope? I JUST updated to 2.03 like 2 days ago. hope it's not a big update, luckily, my PS3 is hooked up via ethernet now, and goes faster, but still slow as crap.

If this doesn't work, I will delete all files. try from unpatched game, and get in one of the 14 unusable cars, hoping they work... and do the patches again.

hoping 2.04, alone, is enough!

I will get rid of the HDD install, if the newest patch doesn't work, might even try a whole new HDD. 80gb is getting pretty hard to deal with in 2012. I had to delete a lot of games I don't play from my game utility data, to even do the HDD install, hoping that would have helped. Hoping my PS3 isn't just on its last legs... :(

I would't want to say goodbye to my machine with backwards compatibility... even though it's not that useful now, since Sony just arbitrarily messed up 1080i support for GT4 on the last 80gb PS3 with PS2 compatibility.

I don't think I'll ever want to buy GT4 bad enough to buy another PS2, lol. Thanks again, hopefully this can be fixed, and my PS3 lives another 10 years.

Dont worry i had the same problem!
it worked out on its own. it took about three days but it gets normal again.
maybe it will take more time or less time to your PS3 but i believe it will fix itself

well i updated right after my last post... have been playing the game a lot all of Februrary, bought like 60 cars since... and still crap out of luck.

oh well, I've bought most of the cars through the used car store again anyways... still need to get the HSC concept... hopefully time time I will get a Acura one, instead of the Honda... would be great for US only races. (since acrua's, lexus's, and infiniti's are all American cars if they come from the used car dealer)

this is pretty pathetic though. It just happend out of nowhere too, cars are still listed in my garage, but completely useless, most interactions in the pop up menu (triangle button in garage) do nothing, but the one's that do something, like gift car, or create thumbnail, just bring up a GT5 loading screen, and kicks me out to the main screen in GTmode.

I don't think this is an issue many people are having, it almost seems like one of my saves got corrupted somehow along the way :S

like I said, out of like 200 cars in my garage, it's only like 15 or so that are affected (all purchased in period around 12 days)

so... w/e at least everything didn't **** up!
 
Delete game data and re-install you have a dodgy install.

Do not delete save data and do a game save first.
