Just went into my profile before, and looking at my garage value, it was an odd 999,999,999 CR. Is the garage value capped? Doesn't seem to reject any new cars, seems to only be the total. But if the total garage value is capped to a maximum of 9 digits, does that equally apply to other things? Is there a limit for the maximum amount of credits you can have? Any other limits I need to be aware of?

How do you have that many cars to have a value that high? That is the max number of credits you can have I believe....

Well, it's due to my Auction House addiction.

While we're at the subject, is there a limit to the number of cars you can have? I think I'm up to 430 odd cars now. And yes, lots of them are duplicates of the same expensive car for the purpose of re-sale and profit. :mischievous:

My auctionhouse earnings are in the negatives now. Once I reached 999,999,999 spent and 999,999,999 earned, they started counting backwards. Funny stuff.

Funny. Can you still make out how much you've actually earned and spent, or is it all over the place now?

I do think it is capped as the max is 999,999,999 (as stated) but if you do sell some of your cars from your garage dont price them up at prices like 200,000,000 as this may attract Turn 10 and could lead to a ban or credit reset, this is because they are clamping down on getting rid of dirty credits - not saying you have dirty credits just making sure what you have earned legitimatley stays with you.

I'd be so pissed if anything were to happen to my hard earned cash, but I'm not one putting ridiculous prices on cars anyway. As for dirty credits, how am I supposed to know whether I've got any or not? If someone buys a car off me for little, s/he could still have paid with "dirty" credits? Just the other day I sold a car for $195K. Naturally, I resolved the auction and retrieved the credits. Then the guy sends me a message that he's bought out my car, as he's got heaps to spend, just having sold one of his cars for $50M. What if that $50M came from "dirty" credits? That means I'd have at least some "dirty" credits now. Do I have to be worried? I most certainly hope not!

I don't think 50 million is anything to worry about - i belive some people have earned this legit, as for knowing if they are dirty credits, there is no way to find out, although Turn 10 did say if you don't think the price is reasonable don't retrive the credits and file a report.

No doubt 50 Million can be earned legit, particularly seeing how long the game has been out. And I've equally got no doubt that people would drop it on a single car. If you've got everything else, what else is there to buy but nice looking limited edition cars? Oh, yeah, and unicorns, though I haven't seen any of those yet. Don't think I'd be willing to pay much for them either. But I've seen some nice paints I'd spend millions and millions on.

I'm not sure. I think once I reached 999,999,999 it started counting backwards from 0. It was -268,xxx,xxx and -5xx,xxx,xxx last i checked. That 268,xxx,xxx is also around what my current credits are so that might have something to do with it. Will look into it more later.

That's the thing. You should be worried. I know you have only been playing for a few weeks now so me, I wonder how you filled you garage like thst already. I doubt I am the only one, just saying. And you need to be worried about dirty credits. T10 is strict about cracking down on cheaters. I am not saying you are nor do I remotely care how you play the game. But you get in T10 radar and they think youre cheating, you'll get console banned. Maybe just a slap on the wrist and they'll just take most of your credits away.

So my opinion, watch what you say and do. I suspect T10 checks this site too. So just be careful.

So it is true then, that they ban people if they think people are cheating, irrespective of the facts? As I've seen, it is absolutely no problem to make huge sums of money in only a couple of weeks playing the Auction House. Snapping up bargains, and then re-selling them for large profits. It's particularly possible if you bought the Collector's Edition, and have gotten VIP status. Granted, not quite as easy without it. Last I checked, this wasn't cheating. Are you now telling me that people are actually getting banned for this? Isn't that just a lawsuit waiting to happen?

I am not T10 and I don't know their system but I know they can track you and who you sell to and get money from. So their bans are based upon facts.
And well, a level 20 driver who has only played for a few weeks will probably come up on their radar pretty quickly when you start selling your cars for 50 mil as you say is possible. And that is what they watch fom what I read. Just got to be careful about receiving glitched money. Not entirely in your control who buys from you but you can always not resolve the auction. T10 put out a statement about their auction house policy, receiving dirty money and their ban policy. I would find it and read it before you start selling. just a word of advice. not trying to start a discussion or get into it.

But what does it mean if they can ban you if you've got a single credit of "dirty" money? It pretty much means the only way to be sure is to not use either the Auction House or the Storefront, as any money you could potentially get from there could be "dirty". Yet, these features have remained. Am I supposed to simply not use those? Then again, it may well be too late already.

Well, at least I don't think I've got anything to worry about on that front.

I think this whole not accepting "dirty" money thing is a bit ridiculous. So I've just sold a car for a reasonable price, but now I need to think twice as to whether I want to resolve the auction, as the other party may well have bid with "dirty" money? Why then leave the Auction House open? Why not close down the Auction House and the Storefront altogether? Or, alternatively, let people resolve auctions without consequences, because it really is out of their control where the money came from.

That is what it comes down to, a reasonable price. If you are selling '97 Civics all day for the reasonable price of 20 mil, you're gonna get in trouble but if you're selling 250 TRs for 9 mil, that doesn't matter cause that's close to the original price. I don't know your defintion of reasonable. Cause not everyone is just that, now are they?

If you want to continue debating me, I ain't gunna reply back. Just go and read T10s recent policy aboit auction house procedure. It will clear up everything you are trying to argue in your last post. Their statement is cut and dry.

I have a simple definition of reasonable. The price you sell a car at needs to be below the dealership price plus parts. Unless, of course, you've put an extreme amount of effort into the paint. I actually think that warrants a price increase according to the effort put in, and based on the looks of the car. I know a guy who sells his awesomely painted cars at a buyout price of $250K, which can be multiples of the price of the car, but if you ask me, that's not just reasonable, that's cheap. I'd find $1M for a Mugen Civic with an awesome paint to be reasonable. And if it's an exclusive artwork only to be sold one copy off, what's even wrong with $20M? IMO, absolutely nothing.

Yes, it differs from selling '97 Civics all day for $20M, but that is not the point. Lots of money can be made within the confines of what I consider reasonable, and people should be allowed to do so, without the imminent threat of a ban, and irrespective of the "dirty" credits issue.

Were we debating? I thought we just had a chat. ;) And I guess I better find that policy, just so I know what it really states. Anyone has a link?

Hmm, somehow that doesn't really say much, which means it doesn't really clear up anything either. It mentions something about multiple game saves, which isn't really applicable, and then it just says that if your profile has met certain criteria, then you're reset to 100 Million credits, without actually specifying what these criteria are.

I guess the only thing I can possibly take from this is that as long as you don't auction off cars for insane amounts, and you keep your bank balance below 100 Million credits, you really are fine, and there's nothing to worry about with respect to a potential ban. So, there's nothing really to worry about after all, or is there? You really had me worried there for a little while. But all is good it seems, all is good. :)

Over 100 million was supposed to get reset back to 100 million.
"dirty credits" are harder to come by now there are hackers that created hacks that allow them to buy all the cars including unicorns for free, then swap the disc back over and sell them for the orignal selling price, there are many videos on youtube about this, some have been taken down but i've also reported some too! - so becare full with credits and what items you're buying, the storefront and auction rooms are not a very legit user freindly areas to be at the minute, of course that is my opinion.

Actually, I've more or less decided not to be "careful", and to just keep doing what I was doing, based on what has been said in the thread BryCivicSi has provided a link to. I believe it's been said very clearly in that thread, that if you haven't cheated/hacked/glitched, the worst that can happen to you is that your credits are reset to 100 Million. If you don't accumulate more than 100 Million, you therefore have nothing to worry about. So, I won't worry. As for the Auction House and the Storefront not being very legit areas at the moment, if it really was of concern to Turn 10, they'd shut them down. They don't, so they obviously don't have a problem with people using them.

Ok, thanks. I better start taking it easy then, or get moving and get a large chunk of my cars back into the Auction House.

Just a note, I'm not sure if this is what you meant but, using the Auction house as extra storage/garage space is a no, no. Unredeemed/resolved cars will be removed after 30 days, with no way to claim them back. Same for messages in the inbox too (gift cars etc). They will just vanish.

I was referring to re-selling them, but I am glad you're mentioning this, because the thought had crossed my mind. Thanks!
