This is something that I have been wanting to do for a while. So, the time has come for me to put my plans into action. This series comes in to action based on my love for Rally Racing, and my obsession with driving on curvy mountain roads. Hopefully my passion is shared throughout and we can all make this "event" one of the greatest experiences in GT5 Online racing history.

Now, the future of this series depends on two things. First, if we have enough interest and/or participation. There will be a lot of open spots for racing, and having them filled throughout the entire event would be amazing. And second, my future after my GT Academy trip to Silverstone is still up in the air. I have been informed by the powers that be, that I can continue my online racing once I get back so we should be OK there.:dopey:

Basic stuff I have come up with so far is below. Any comments, concerns, suggestions are greatly appreciated!

Tracks:
  • Targa Toscana : Stage 1 through 5 (street circuit)
  • Created by myself and tested for consistency/fun factor
  • Each about 3 to 5 minutes in length
  • Some with more turns, some with higher speeds

Car Classes: (There will be 5 separate classes that will participate)
  • Level 1: 300 to 400pp with Sport Hard tires
  • Level 2: 401pp to 500pp with Sport Medium Tires
  • Level 3: 501pp to 600pp with Sport Soft Tires
  • Level 4: 601pp+ with Sport Soft Tires and downforce allowed
  • Classic: Pre-1975 Cars up to 500pp with Sport Medium Tires
  • NO Racing Tires
  • NO Race Cars (Rally Cars OK - check with me first)
  • Downforce adders allowed in Level 4 Class only!

Race Format:
  • Up to 8 cars can run at the same time, sorted by class
  • Race will be set to 2 laps, first one timed, second cool-down and finish
  • Cars will leave the line in 20 second intervals, fastest first
  • Lap time (not total time) counts as stage time
  • ALL Aids OFF, ABS at 1
  • Off track traction set to REAL
  • Damage set to HEAVY
  • Penalties OFF

A few additional things to note:
  • I will make each stage available for download one week prior to that stages running. This gives everyone participating exactly one week to practice the next stage.
  • Race times will be Saturdays and Sundays, earlier in the day so our Euro friends can participate.
  • These will NOT be door to door races! This is a rally, done one stage at a time with time trials!
  • Other than the specified PP level, downforce and Tire restrictions, tuning is completely OPEN. Have fun with this one!

When I think of more I will edit this page and put it in. No fancy graphics or anything yet as the interest in this series will determine if we move forward. I am posting now so we can get everything up and organized before I come back from Silverstone, at which time we will start the event.

Comments?

Kind of wanted to limit it to one entry per class. I think we'll keep that for now and depending on the number of entries we may open it up.

I'm also going to make giving me your email address a sign-up requirement that way I can communicate with people outside the forums, especially those that don't visit GTP that frequently.

Turbo, how important do you think 4WD will be with these tracks? I'll run a rally car or something else 4WD if I have to, but do you think a RWD would have a chance? I have a few that I've never used, but could be perfect for this.

Considering it is tarmac that we will be running on, I think anything has a chance given the right driver.

My God, Turbo. How on Earth are you gonna find the time to pull this off before Silverstone?!

Oh yeah, and I'm in. I think I'll go for Level 1, maybe 2...

After Silverstone. ;)

I posted the thread early so we can gauge interest, get sign ups going and have everything ready by the time I get back. 👍

Edit: I just raised the PP levels for each class. After taking a look at how cars are classified in the game, I believe they were too low.

I've been interested in doing something like this myself. I have a question though; it looks like everyone will just run 1 lap every week and then that's it? Is there any way to make the events longer?

That track looks fun, what kind of car is that? Nevermind, found the description.

And another question, you say we will have one week to practice on each track, but that you will be running the series after Silverstone. Can we get the first track once PSN comes back so we can pick/set up our cars?

As stated in the description, it's a time based rally. No fender to fender racing. Each weekend you complete one stage, with a total of 5 stages across 5 weeks. Your total time for all stages at the end will determine your finishing position. If I could make the stages longer I would, but it's hard to get the course creator to do that.

I can do that, sure.

Edit: I just changed the racing format to help with regulating PP limits.
