GBRC "Grumpy British Racing Club" Home of clean racing.

Hi 👋

I’d love to join your league!

To be honest I’m fed up with the Daily Races and the poor driving quality and really fancy racing like-minded clean and mature drivers. I’m semi retired and have a very supportive wife, so should be able to make many fixtures.

I’ve been a GT fan since the original in the late 90s, and now have invested in a decent rig with DD wheel and VR. It still blows my mind after 300+ hours of drive time. 😅

Hope to see you on the track sometime soon.

Cheers
George

Quick Reference Guide to GBRC GT7 Casual Racing Rules

At GBRC we pride ourselves in clean racing with minimal contact.
We have an active team of Race Admin members who take part in all races & study the race replays.
We aim for realistic racing and would ask drivers to drive as if it was their car.

Below is a brief version of our Online Racing Rules ;

The Track ;
The game will issue penalties for track limits.
If a driver breaks the track limits and gains an advantage you should give up that advantage.

Qualifying ;
Just like in real life racing, do not obstruct other drivers who are on a fast qualifying lap.
Please move off the racing line or off track.
Do not park on track while qualifying is still in progress.
If you catch up to a driver then it’s your responsibility to back off.
Do not hinder the car in front.

The Race ;
Avoid contact with other cars.
If you make contact with another car & either make them lose control / leave the track / spin, you must wait for the car to rejoin and allow him past.
If another car is ahead & on the racing line when braking into a corner, you must back out of any manoeuvre to avoid contact or spinning the other car around.
Continual contact / rubbing the car in front is not acceptable
Weaving to avoid slip streaming / towing the car behind is not acceptable – you can move once.
If you leave the track, care must be taken to safely re-join without hindering other drivers.
Be prepared to leave racing room for cars that are alongside or 'overlapping' you
The race is not won in the first corner – be patient on the first few corners.
You must make every effort to avoid collisions, this would include going off track.

Two words to think about - Patience and Awareness.

Be gentlemanly,polite and respectful.
Respect the stewards and Admin.

Persistent, careless, abusive driving could result in a Permanent ban from GBRC.

Hi Diafol,
Check out the discord link in luchbox147's signature.
Most nights of the week there will be members online racing/testing, Thursday evenings are the general 'casual racing/testing' evenings, with official events being held on Sunday evenings (UK times)

I might consider joining this league in the future when I'm ready. Just let me know what I need to do, I'll read the guidelines in the creator's first post for this thread to find out more.

Hi Chris, nice to meet you.

We look for considerate and clean racers, speed isn't a criteria for joining which Lunchbox's first post in this thread covers. Drivers are required to attend two Thursday night casual evenings so that both the club and the driver can be sure it's the right fit. After that they're free to join for the official races on Sunday. Feel free to drop any questions if you have any :)

As well as a presence here we also have a discord server which you can find a link to in @lunchbox147's signature

Looking to join! I am 62, been on GT7 for a little over a year, not had my wheel and seat a year yet. Still pretty slow, I guess, cannot get anywhere near winning any of the daily races yet. I have got gold on two maybe 3 Track Experiences, RedBull Ring, Monza and there is another one, I think. I am sorry, I have been in and out of the Server on Discord, I am not up to speed with Discord, don’t know how it works as yet, but I am trying to- very trying, I hear you say! Ha ha ha.

Welcome Jim. It’s a good bunch of people. There’s no need for super fast laps. Just enjoy it and clean racing. As Jason says treat it like it’s your own car. There are some guys on discord tonight if you want to get the feelers out. See you in the track soon I hope.

I'll be glad to join as I soon as I can. Looks like you all are enjoying the racing lobbies and stuff in the game. See I would need help to get better lap times anywhere in the game. That would be one of the reasons why I would join y'all on this journey.

Don't worry, we have no pace requirements, just that drivers are courteous and gentlemanly on-track.

It's worth stating clearly here; we do focus primarily on the racing aspect - this is where the heart of this club lies. The club can offer coaching to members but it's in service of the racing (racecraft, consistency, car control etc) and less focussed on outright laptime as a metric of success. If purely reducing laptimes is your aim you may find that you are better served by other resources.

However, if the sound of how we operate is appealing to you, why not join for a Thursday of casual racing? From the first post:
Thursdays from 8pm-10pm UK time

Lobbies will be hosted by:
GBRC-Lunchbox
GBRC-Cokebloke
GBRC-Will

Feel free to add us on PSN to join our lobbies.

GBRC Racing

Hi, i have just joined the gtplanet forum and this set up looks exactly what I’m looking for. Skill level wise I’m in the middle - SPA 800 best lap 2:12 with Mazda 787B, but average 2:15, Sardegna 800 1:29 best but only did it once and can’t seem to repeat. I’ve not done a huge amount of classic /low lever PP racing other than the stages in the game - happy to learn. If you are happy , what are the next steps?

Hi Nick, follow the Discord link in the signature line of the first post to find the club's Discord where all the info will be readily available.

There are club members on GT7 most evenings with the traditional practise sessions for Sunday races being on Thursday evenings. You would need to take part in racing on two Thursdays before beong cleared to race on Sundays.

Hope to see you over on Discord soon!

Hello, I'd like to join please, I'm grumpy, I'm British but more importantly I like clean racing.

I have a PS5, a headset, have discord, and use a controller with only ABS weak.

Hi Gav,
Take a look at the link above for GBRC's discord page.
Drop a message in the new arrivals thread and then feel free to take a look around.
Any questions just ask.
