Hi guys,
this is my first post and I'm pretty sad it has to be like this ..
I could moan about all the problems and content left out in gt6 , but this one has really got to me ..
For some reason gt6 is not recognising my gearstick ( Thrustmaster th8rs ), does not recognise clutch either .. anybody else had these problems ?
Just so you know it works fine with gt5..

Damn you Kaz !!! get it patched up !!!

so I guess nobody uses manual gears with clutch .. or has a t500rs with shifter, shame your missing out ..

well your not missing out really because it doesn't work ..

Th8rs , t500 , clutch , h- pattern , even my button box all works fine for me ! Got 4 Friends with the same equippment , fine also !
Do you have the actual Firmware ?

Can you use shifter paddle one the wheel?

If you drive the cars equipped with double clutch transmission (upgrade parts the same) in GT6, it seems you can no longer use racing wheel clutch and H-shifter.

Mine also works without any problems. Is your equipment plugged into an adaptor? Also make sure that your firmware is upto date.

thanks for the replies guys.. sorry have not had chance to check till now.

still have not got the shifter working , I saw the messages about the firmware, so I downloaded the software, installed it and plugged the shifter into the laptop. The software recognised it and responded to movements of the stick, I clicked on the update button in bottom right hand corner and it responded with the message that it was up to date ( firmware 2.0 ).

I've had the wheel for a year and have only recently got the shifter (2 months) so I know the clutch pedal doesn't work without the shifter been plugged into the ps3, and have never had any problems with gt5 ( I've checked to make sure the shifter still works, and it does).

both wheel and shifter are plugged into a fat ps3 via the 2 usb on the front, I've swapped the connections round and the wheel works fine on both, so its not them either..

at a bit of a loss with ideas now, unless the latest firmware isn't 2.0 and the computers lying that's all that I'm left with .. and the fact that I wont be losing races with a sloppy / missed gear shift on the last corner ( trying to stay positive lol ).

Sounds daft, but you haven't replied to what nock said, so have you tested a car with a stock, non racing gearbox?
If it still works in GT5 it's not a hardware issue, and if the firmware is up to date, it could be an issue with GT6 itself. Perhaps you could try uninstalling the updates, then reinstalling them?

Now I haven't got GT6 yet, but in 5 you could configure the buttons of wheels to do different jobs. If possible, try configuring another action to the shifter and see if it works then.

yes I've tried with all my cars (stock and fully tuned), everything is plugged in all the time so all I have to do is dip the clutch at start of a race to see if it selects neutral (which it doesn't). As I said the steering wheel works perfect, manual gears can be used with shifters on wheel (or any button you config them too, as in 5), its the TH8RS shifter that isn't working but again as I've said, it works with gt5, then just swap the disc for gt6 and the stick isn't recognised by the game..
I think uninstalling updates is next step, just strange that no one else seems to have had a problem ..

in some cars clutch and h-shifter dont work. they have a racingtransmission and you need to shift with paddle or seq shifter. also some of the normal cars with custom transmission cant be shift by h-shifter. like the bmw 2002turbo with racing tranmission.

Finally got it fixed ! deleted all game data and reinstalled, now works!

Thanks for the help and ideas.

stinks a bit that you can't use H shifter in all cars though, but its realism that we (I hope) are after... no modern race cars I know of use H shifters, even the better off club racers spend the pennys on converting to seq shifters to gain back the time wasted shifting (mx5 cup for example) .. think that's a case of live by the sword, die by the sword..

Thanks again for the help..

I just installed the first custom transmission on a car, after that the H-Shifter and Clutch won´t work when driving. Hope it recovers when I turn the system off and on.

edit: Before switching the console off, I changed the car, clutch+shifter work, changed car to previous with the custom tranny: don´t work. Changed to standard tranny: works! Weird!

That´s stupid! A BMW 2002turbo with sequentiel? The thing is from 1973!!! And the old Muscle cars with their 4 gears that only reach 80mph? Can´t enjoy them stock, neither if I have to paddle shift... No PD, I want this patched!!!

I agree it is stupid, don't mind the odd car but, every custom trans is a bit far ... your point about muscle cars is spot on..

the bmw 2002 turbo has a H shifter, images in google confirm this. (not that I didn't know this already!)

I mean surely you could put a seq gear box on a race prepped 2002turbo aswell as any other car. But in the game I´d rather have the option to choose myself how I want to use it.

In my case above I was talking about a Vectra I simply wanted to match the specs of it´s OPC/VXR model, so really only slight tuning. I can live with not beeing able to install a turbo in there, but the fact that I´m not able to use H shift is really annoying. Especially because the results after using the real gear box settings of the car where great despite it being a uncharged 3.2 V6 in the game while it´s a 2.8 V6 Turbo in RL.

Hi all,

I have been keen on following this thread, as well as the ones on the Hardware forum specific to the TH8 RS shifter and the T500RS steering wheel. I've had a T500RS -without the shifter- since GT5 was released, and since I've now moved to the new GT6 (and loving it), today I've finally got my new TH8 RS shifter. I was worried about the issue of the shifter failing to work after fitting a custom transmission to our cars in GT6. Well, I'm glad to report that so far it has been working for me with no problems.

I've only have had a few hours for testing it, but my TH8 works beautifully in the Shelby Cobra 427 '66 and the BMW 507 '57. I first drove them with their stock 4-speed transmissions and then fitted the fully-customisable ones. No problem at all, I can have the 4-speed in setup A and the 5-speed in setup B and switch between them, also I can use the paddles and go back to the shifter, or change to other cars and back.

As to firmwares, I updated the wheel when I got it (in late 2010, I think) and never since, and today I have plugged the shifter to my PS3 straight away, so I'm assuming it comes from the shop with the most current firmware. I'm aware, though, that some cars are supposed to have specific transmissions that can't be operated with the TH8 RS shifter, but so far I'm very happy that I can finally drive the oldies as they're meant to. I'm enjoying it!

Cheers,
S.

@Syrius, great since you mentioned old cars I tried it with a Trans Am and luckily it works there aswell. So I guess I don´t have to worry about the muscle cars in general, still though why the BMW 2002 turbo? If you want to buy a 2002 turbo and try your shifter on that and let us know if you can use it after installing a custom transmission, would be interesting to know.

OK, I got the BMW 2002 Turbo '73 and went to test it. With the stock 4-speed gearbox, the shifter works as H-pattern+clutch. However, with the fully customisable 5-speed gearbox it only works in the sequential configuration of the TH8, with no clutch action, so that's essentially the same as using the paddles on the steering wheel. I then thought, what about the fixed ratio 5-speed gearbox? (2nd option in the transmission section of setup). Well, it works! H-pattern+clutch, works as well as the stock 4-speed. So that's partial good news, I guess.

In summary:

T500 RS wheel+TH8 shifter, BMW 2002 Turbo '73
Stock 4-speed fixed gearbox: Working H-pattern shifter + working clutch action
Custom 5-speed fixed gearbox: Working H-pattern shifter + working clutch action
Custom 5-speed adjustable gearbox: Sequential shifter only, no clutch action

I think it's unlikely that Polyphony actually intended to implement the gearboxes in this peculiar way for some odd cars and not for others, so I look at this as a bug.

So far I'm lucky, my favourite cars that I have checked seem to be OK. Besides the Shelby Cobra and the BMW 507 (stock fixed 4-speed), I have tried the Jaguar XJ13 '66 / XJ13 Chromeline (stock adjustable 5-speed) and the Ferrari 250 GTO '62 (stock fixed 5-speed) and the H-pattern shifter and clutch do work correctly. The Jag XJ13 can't have any other gearbox, and the Ferrari 250 GTO is ok for both the stock fixed 5-speed and the adjustable 5-speed gearboxes.

Cheers,
S.

Thank you very much Syrius, I guess all us purists is left to do is wait and see if it is indeed a bug and that it might eventually be fixed.

Can I just chip in here and report that I'm playing GT6 on my Logitech G27 wheel set.

With GT5 every single car worked with the gearstick and now on GT6 it seems that any car with the letters "GT" in it's name, the gearstick is disabled and doesn't work!! Only the paddle shifters work but the gearstick is disabled.
This is a bug right???

Any updates on this????

I noticed, most cars with stock transmission, the gearstick works fine but if I buy the fully customiseable gearset then my gearstick is disabled and I have to revert to paddle shifters.
This is really taking the fun out of the game for me!!!
