The Alpine A110 is one of my favourite cars, but the top speed of just above 200 km/h is a bit on the low end. Personally I don't like to equip my cars with just any random gearbox configuration, instead I like to replicate gearboxes from real life and from the same marque or family as the car I'm tuning.

In the past I've replicated a Ford GT40 Mk1 race car gearbox for my Mk1 road car, a Porsche 914 gearbox for my VW Beetle and a Porsche 911 Carrera (Switzerland version) gearbox for my RUF Yellowbird.

For the Alpine A110 I'm going to add a Renault UN1 (D501) gearbox from the Renault Alpine V6 Turbo '85. It's a variation of the gearbox found in the Renault 5 Maxi Turbo rally car, only configurated for high speed rather than fast acceleration.

The gearbox provides a theoretical top speed of somewhere in the neighbourhood of 260 km/h. With a sports exhaust as only power modification I reached 240 km/h in my car when testing on Daytona, so there's a bit of extra room for slipstreaming or for adding more power to the car.

Instructions:

1. Purchase a fully customizable gearbox

2. Set the final gear ratio to 3.444

3. Set top speed to 270 km/h*

4. Set the following gear ratios:
  1. 3.364
  2. 2.059
  3. 1.381
  4. 0.964
  5. 0.756
5. Go for a test drive!

*If you're using mph instead of km/h, you can try to set the top speed to 170 mph. If that doesn't load the value ranges you need for the gears in step 4, just try to adjust the final gear up or down slightly and reset the speed to 170 until you get the ranges you need. Then reset the final gear to 3.444 and continue from step 4.
