Thinking about this for my next racing series, but wanted to get the general opinion of the GTP population regarding how they feel about online racing and no ABS.

Would you run in a series with NO ABS?

Yes!! :dopey: I'd so love to do a series where using ABS off isn't a disadvantage :D.

Thanks for the votes so far guys, turning out to be a little more interesting than I thought.

Keep 'em coming. :)

I voted yes, but I don't think I can join a new championship, but no ABS is the way of racing.

EDIT.. Missing a word.. doh

It'd be nice to see, ABS 1 is the norm and to see something different would be great. Voted yes.

I am 100% for this, as I don't run with abs assist in most of the series I run in anyway. Just afraid to see what you can do with it RT, as you are the smoothest racer I run with, and that's the key to running fast laps without abs. 👍

I'm still getting used to it, and have only run laps offline so far. Once my internet is back up at home, I'll be doing some testing online.

I think a lot of people like the idea in concept but once they actually get out and seriously try to marry it, they get fed up fast. I only run ABS 1 in GT5 'cause I really hate the way the non-ABS brakes feel, it's just really clonky. In Forza the brakes feel awesome so I love, and only run, no ABS there and in the sims I run from time to time of course, much easier and funner to find the sweet spot. So that's my reasoning behind it.

But as far as running no ABS in a league, I really don't see it as a major depature, as long as every one's doing the same thing then it'll be like anything else, more lock ups yeah but it wouldn't make a crazy impact on the racing.

My purpose for doing a non-ABS series would be for the sole reason that it forces people to slow down a bit and have more patience. One major thing I hate about GT, and specifically racing online, is that it doesn't feel realistic to me in that you can just slam on the brakes and get away with it. Couple that with too much grip, and it just doesn't feel right.

I've found that limiting power and disabling ABS brings the true, realistic racing feel.

I'd love to see a true to life spec miata series :p I hear there's a guy on here who's done a few efforts.....but they've all had abs and too much power lately :P AND DOWNFORCE!! WHO DOES THAT! :p

As soon as you get used to running with it off, you will see what advantages you have without it. I am faster without the assist, and I really think most of you guys would be also.
Also if you haven't tried running with it off in a while, you should. One of the updates made it a bit easier, also you have to run your bias settings at no more than 2. Or that is the number that worked best for me.

Plus imagine a series where you are able to out brake someone, cause as it is now, it is next to impossible to do that.

I very highly seriously doubt I'd be faster without it, but I'll try.

The idea of outbraking someone's more of a possibility yeah, it would be cool to make the other guys lock up.

But with the car that RT's thinking of running this "no ABS" series with, there's going to be a lot of lock ups xD

I did notice that it likes to lock up sooner than say the Falcon XR8, but I had a brake balance of 3/1 and have yet to test anything lower. May just go all the way to 1/1.

Try ballasting it up so it has more of an even weight, don't know - might help.

Hmm what car is RT planning to use then? I wanna test it :p.

Absolutely no "ABS" brake aids ever. Never even try to use it since the 1st time I play GT5 and I also never use any other assist, they will only hinder me from experiencing the intended driving dynamics :). If anyone interested to have a go at a race event with no assist, including ABS, check this thread

On the weekend, I also sometimes host a lobby with no assists, no ABS, fuel/tire wear, comfort soft/medium, heavy damage and full penalty, tuning prohibited with 485pp limit or less - 350/400pp,usually there are car restrictions, GTR R32-34, Evo I-VI, etc

This is a feeler haha, you'll get your hands all the way around her soon enough 👍.

But no, gate19's not a clue, just a reminder for Paul 👍

^^. Is this a clue? I am curious as to what his next venture is also.

No reason to keep it a secret. We're talking power limited IS-F RM's on undecided tires and ABS disabled. 👍

Poll looks good. Surprising to say the least.

I'd like to know what wimps voted "no". Damn you RT for not making it a public poll .

Ran a few laps around Spa in a Pescarola with ABS off, and its actually real fun. Would love to see a series with these sort of spec cars with pretty much all assists off.

Depends on car. My TOCA series unsuccesfully piloted the idea, it was a challenge and I enjoyed it, but it made it trickier to produce close racing as people were always focusing on being cautious into braking zones...

It is a very interesting idea indeed, would be something I'm willing to try, but unfortunately the times you suggested don't work for me, but no matter as I'm planning to take a break from GT5 soon anyway.
