Has anyone followed my signature link yet? I'm really asking, have you really played GeneRally yet? For those of you who don't know what it is, GeneRally is a arcade racer with 6-player multiplayer action. The game itself is pretty simply disigned, as the cars are only made of 40 pixels. I have youtube videos below.

Hope you play it! It's the best PC game ever, in my opinion!

I have it sitting on my hard drive, but I don't play it that often. I have a handful of downloaded tracks and a whole boatload of "real" cars (everything from a VW Van to a Mk.4 Supra).

It's fun, but I wish you had more of a choice of camera angle.

Yeah, I've had GeneRally for a while as well but haven't really played it all that much. It's fun but I've been too busy doing some 'real' driving (hello, GT4).

I made some tracks back in the day but none of them were horrible exciting. Just a generic circuit track with varied layouts.

Coming off of what Wolfe said, y'know what would make GeneRally interesting? A first person camera view.

But overall, for my arcade racer fix I usually play Trackmania. It has the same build-your-own-track idea to it (although it's a bit different in options available) but it's first-person, online, and has a good sense of speed. :)

Yes, in fact, said by the forums, there will be a latest version with a third person or first person cam option.

I used to play it quite a bit, but got bored after doing a heap of championships. If you could play against other people online it would be awesome.

Curious here.

Anyone here play GeneRally? It's a kinda hybrid of old arcade racer Indy Heat and racing simulation rFactor. It comes shipped with a track editor as well.

You can find it here: http://gene-rally.com

Perhaps if there's enough interest we can get a weekly GTP league going with some add-on Super GT cars or something?

I've played before, but not for about 3 years. A freind of mine showed it to me, and I enjoyed it for a little while, but was never any good at the racing, nor track making. But it does take me back to my last few years of high school, and playing this instead of doing work...

I downloaded it, but for some reason when I try to launch the game it says that the MSVCP 100.dll wasn't found, so it wants me to re-install the application. But I didn't install it! The whole program was unzipped!

Holy flashbacks Batman! I haven't played it in years! I remember when the GeneRally forum was a racesimcentral, man does time fly.

Yeah, RSC went through a number of long server failures, so the official forum moved to a new host and server, and all the action is at the new forum now.

You can find it here:

(caution: if you want to download anything there you'll have to register, but it is free)

I downloaded it, the track editor is awesome and fairly easy to pick up and play. Wouldn't mind having a GTP race or two :D

I've played this for a while a couple of years ago and it's good fun. Reminded me of the good old days I was playing the hell out of Micro Machines on my Megadrive.
As the amount of user generated content is immense, you can go on for quite some time before it gets old.

I downloaded the Gran Turismo GeneRally which is essentially GT, but in GR form. The only problem is that I can't run it :grumpy:

GTGR hasn't been worked on in a while, and that project seems dead anyways.

Hope to see more interest for a GTP GR league though.

Hello, i'm playing this racing game since May 2013, GeneRally is a freeware originally developed by brothers Hannu and Jukka Räbinä from Finland. Although it features a 3D graphics engine, GeneRally has a top-down perspective, where you can see all the cars (which is perfect for multiplayer races). Its art design calls to mind older arcade racing games such as Super Sprint and Slicks N'Side. PCGamer, in an issue about free PC games, described it as "A minimalist Micro Machines". Here is the download link: http://gene-rally.com/download/

OH GOD, what have you done?
I have been reminded of this awesome little gem!

I remember playing this in my early teens. AND THEY'RE MAKING A NEW ONE.
My free time is going to be going straight down the plughole now!

THEY UPDATED THE OLD ONE TOO! Oh my god Oh my god Oh my god...
*Excuse me*

(This game is awesome to play with a Dualshock BTW, Car/Track Editors are great aswell!)

These guys could make a lot of money if they made this into a mobile game.....

Now the new Developers (James Burguess, Markku and Kimmo are making the sequel :mischievous: : GeneRally 2, maybe could be released in Late 2014/Early 2015. :)

They're making a new one? How cool is that?!? :D

Someone has searched for the relevant thread and bumped it instead of creating a new one? How cool is that?!? :D

Thanks for the heads-up... My old copy runs horribly on Windows 7 and 8... I'll try the latest version out.

Hmm. Looks like an interesting game. I don't think I would ever play it though. Top-down games are hard for me to play. I need to have the camera close to the car for me to be able to play properly. :/

But I do like that the game supports mods. More games need to do that now. Mods greatly extend the life of any game, and create interest in old games people might have forgotten about.

Some time ago, I saw some of the videos of the next generation of GeneRally, complete with things like nighttime. It's a very fun title. I mostly set up AI races because I'm pretty brutal getting involved in the races. I even made a few tracks (all tarmac courses) for GeneRally. It will be interesting to see what the next GeneRally brings. Sad that the funding project was unsuccessful.

Is now very good GeneRally :D, but for me is some boring see AI races. :grumpy:
ps. John, you can send me your tracks to my mail? : nicolaspradenas2003@gmail.com :mischievous:
