So, I have yet to get a German Touring car (as a gift) and of the lists I've seen, they aren't a prize car for accomplishments. So right now, the only option I have is the Audi R8 Team Playstation Race car for 3.9 mil in the online dealership. I'm sure it's a great car, but it seems like a bit overkill? Is there another way to get a German Touring car that I'm missing?

Good call-out Top Chancer.

Also, last night when I checked the used dealer there was a Mercedes CLK German Tour edition; car looked sweet and if I wasnt 400k short, I would have bought. It was like 1.2 million if I recall.

The online dealer had some up when it first started, but they've cycled out now. As said, the LFA racing concept will win, and is the cheapest car you can use. Otherwise wait for one to show up in the used lot. I've got the TT, A4 and 190, and they're all amazing drives. I'd pick one up even after you win the event.

I just recently completed that one with the IS-F Racing Concept. It's a fun car to drive and there's a set-up I liked in the Avid thread. I'm just an average driver, but I didn't soup it up much, just mostly improved the tires, added the cheap stuff, and used the Avid tune. It made for some fun races for me, but better drivers might think it is too easy. There's probably a better tune for the Nurb race, but I used the same one for all of them, since I'm not a good tuner.

I can recommend the Audi ABT-TT. Great car. Tons of grip, fast and lets itself be pushed to the limit quite easily. It's also very forgiving, easy to recover from mistakes at high speed without ending up backwards in the bushes. I think I bought it for ~750k Credits in the UCD.

Which a4? I have the s4 and an r8 but they don't qualify for the event....

^The Audi A4 Touring car. I'm waiting for that one to show up but I have a feeling I could be waiting for a long time. I'd also like to get the Opel Astra but I'll see if any come up soon.

Look through the adverts in the GT5 Marketplace on this forum, you never know, there might just be someone with one to trade, and you might just have the right car to trade with??

It takes a bit of time to go through the adverts - but you never know, you might get lucky... 👍

The Lexus is always available so it is a good choice. Also has the potential of more power than the others but is heavier. It can win with ease though.

I have managed to collect them all at this point picking up the 190E and the M3 GTR last night.

Unless the online dealership changed today, you can't use that R8 race car in the DTM race. It has a specific list of cars you can use and that one isn't on it.

Yep they are all sedans.
BWM M3 GTR Race Car
Lexus ISF racing Concept
Mercedes CLK Touring Car
Mercedes 190 Evo Race car
Audi TT Touring Car
Audi A4 Touring Car
Opel or Vauxhaul Calibra or Astra
Alfa Romeo AWD V6 whatever it was called.

That's about it.

You speak the truth. You know how I know? Cause I shelled out the 3.9 mil and tried to use it. Sweet. American Championship here I come.

I apparently can't read, like TopChancer, as the Lexus won't work...its not German.

I think you have to get yourself at least 1.2 million credits and keep checking used car dealer for a German touring model.

For the American championship, I bought the Corvette zr1 and then did the race mods in the auto shop...its BA!

Don't mistake the M3 GTR with the M3 GTR Race Car, I think the M3 GTR is silver/grey whereas the Race Car is white and blue checker rear end, unless there are other color from the UCD.

The Alfa is Italian and that's ok to use. The country of origin isn't always the determining factor, this is the DTM championship, so all DTM cars in the game are able to enter, regardless of country of origin.

i used the M3 GTR race car. It is a tad more expensive at 990,000, but i own an e46 m3 so it was a must buy for me anyway lol.

I didn't do one thing to it besides oil change and i dominated the competition the entire race. very good handling car and feels alot quick than its 460hp would suggest

I won the 190 (not the AMG) on a random prize ticket

Can this car be upgraded to win the event for a pretty crap driver?

I used the 190. I think I just upped the engine a little and could walk away from the other cars. It is very stable and one of my favs.

The BMW GTR Race Car that is currently in the Online Dealership is a very nice racer. I had previously won the DTM event with the Lexus (upgraded a bit with a recommended tune from this site) and they were fun and competitive races.

I ran the Cape Ring race last night to play with my new GTR race car, and it won very easily. I just ran it stock as it was purchased. It's fun to drive, so I'm going to have to find some better competition for that one!

It doesn't have to be German.
The Alfa 155 isn't German either.

However they competed in the DTM series which is the German touringcar championship in the 90's sourch

In 2008 (or something) Lexus was planning to compete in this series aswell but desided not to. There for there is only a concept racingcar. sourch
