Who needs a xbox? I gotta PS3!
I've been searching for a couple of hours & haven't found an answer so I'm going to go ahead & post this question.

I have a Sony HDTV (KDS-R50XBR1) & want to use the 1080i & 16:9 video modes.
I'm guessing the 1080i only works with componet cables (I just have the S-Video for now) but do you need the component cables for 16:9 also??
I changed the options to 1080i & as expected it didn't work but I also changed it to 16:9 & got no change either.
So does 16:9 only work with componet cables or am I not setting it up right??

I'm going to pick up the componet cables but ws wondering if anyone makes HDMI cables for the PS2?

There are no HDMI cables for the PS2, as it is not capable of putting out pictures in digital format.

And yes, 16:9 also works with s-video cables. The menus won't change instantly though, and your TV won't set itself to 16:9 either. You need to do this manually. The easiest way to discern 4:3 from 16:9 is to look at the shape of the cars. If their proportions are strange, you've changed the mode.

Yea I had my TV on zoom mode, when I changed it to full I got the correct aspect ratio for 16:9.

I also made a run to best buy for a set of Psyclone componet cables & there is quite a diffrence in pic quality in 1080i!!👍 :)

I'm going to try God of war in 1080i later, the spurting blood should look great in High Def!!!

I think GT4 is the only 1080i compatible ps2 game, but GOW may be 480p compatible. And BTW, remeber you have to switch to 1080i every single time you boot up the game, ANNOYING!
