Getting a G27, question

I have decided to upgrade to a G27 from my DFGT since it is in sale on Amazon. But I have a question, do I need some sort of support for the shifter if I was planning in setting it on the floor to my right? (like where it is in an actual car) I've seen supports for the shifter on Amazon and was wondering if I needed one or not.

My G25's is held up by a CD rack

With the clamping system Logitech use, you definitely don't need to buy a specially designed shifter holder. But I would recommend something sturdy. Take it from me, there's nothing worse then missing a shift and having to pickup 30 CDs for your aggression ;)

The shifter can't sit on it's own and need to be attached to something.

What is available that would work if I'm going to set it on the floor?

It has clamps and it has a set of bolts. Here's some photos of the shifter attached to my playseat (via the bolts. The clamps can't clamp to something that's so thin) so you can see if you have anything you could attach it to.

EDIT: What's the wheel going to be attached to?

I don't know, my seat sits on the floor so I don't think I can do what you did there. I have a Playseat Rookie.

Oh the wheel will be attached to my seat like my DFGT is.

Would I be able to mount the shifter to something else? Such as a bookshelf?

It may move around if not mounted on something sturdy and immovable (same problem with flight sticks (will be making a switchable mount for my Playseat Evolution)

Now I'm not sure wether to get it or not... I don't wanna have to spend $300 on a new seat, have to set the new seat up, and then have to sell my old rig. I think the wheel and pedals would be mountable on my seat but I'd have to come up with a way to secure the shifter....

It wouldnt be very difficult to secure a piece of metal bent at 90 degrees to the side of the seat. Drill some holes that match the shifter and your good to go. Or you could buy the shifter mount for the playseat evo and driil holes in the side of your seat base.

I used a bunch of weightlifting weights and sandwiched them to the bottom of a rather simple wooden structure. It's was plenty solid for the G27 shifter but now that I modified it for the TH8RS, even 50 lbs. won't do, it really needs to be rock solidly mounted to a surface. But my intention was to have it mobile so I could move it around. Even the wheel was mounted to the coffee table with a rather clever wooden brace that I carefully cut to clap down without damaging the table. Rock solid, and it only takes 2 minutes to remove.

So if you got a saw, all you need is a piece of lumber and a sheet of plywood, and you might be able to find some used weight at a garage sale somewhere cause those suckers are expensive to buy new.

What are the measures of your playseat "front support" (AKA, the place you put your wheel)?

I've seen some Playseat Rookies with g27 and I don't think you'll need an extra support for the gear shifter.

Take a look at this ones.

Actually I think that's the seat I have, a Playseat Rookie. I was going to try drilling holes in it and getting a mount since the box with weights in it would take up more space which is kind of limited. If I can't do that then I will do that.
