Ok guys so i had a ps1 a ps2 and then changed over to a 360...I grew up playing gran turismo and socom and loved them, so my question to you guys is is gt5 worth it? i'm going to get the game no matter what, but i'd like to know the pros and cons about the game so i have an idea of what to expect, so if you guys could hook me up with your feedback i'd appreciate it..

Well in my opinon it wasn't that great when it first came out but they have been updating it the latest update to 1.05 makes it as good as gt4 but not better the only added bonus is top gear test track but you have to win a silly combi bus race to get it which took me hours but worth it, hopefully newer patches will make it better, i am a fan of gran turismo series and a couple of things let me down the b- spec is not available for endurances as there is proper a and b spec mode compelty seperate from each other so to do the endurances you have to the time to spare, and a little niggly problem no odometer, even though the game records mileage, most of the premium cars with the proper cockpit layout don't record it which is silly, could have been better, but i think its primo anyway, haven't stop playing it, much to my other halfs dissapointment, It is worth it but keep an open mind

If you actually enjoy racing it might be worth it. If you have to do a little bit of saving over time to buy a system and the game, it might be worth it. But I'm done trying to defend the game. Little by little I found out things that let me down more and more. Things one would EXPECT a definitive racing game of this generation to COME with, doesn't. It's lackluster, it's been rushed, and while the presentation isn't half bad the playability is only online. Otherwise it's just not as fun as GT4. Not to mention you can probably only change wheels on about 150 cars, and very limited 'customization' if you could even call it that.

Cliff notes, wait until GT6, it might be the game GT5 was supposed to be.

Pros: Amazing physics + Almost every car you ever dreamed of having (except the porsches)

Cons:
  • Jaggy graphics
  • No checkpoint/save during endurance races
  • The only thing you can do with a replay is pause. Director mode replay where you picked camera angles for each frame, paused, FF'd etc from GT4 is gone.
  • You can't fast forward B-spec.
  • You can't win a B-spec event unless you tune your car to the max.
  • If you do win some B-spec events, you'll have to repeat them to gain enough experience to do the next event. In short, the XP system is ********.
  • Lots of tracks missing from GT4 and previous games.
  • Credit limit set to 20mills even though there are cars that cost that amount.
  • Used car dealership is most likely to have 90% of it full of ****** ass japanese cars that nobody cares about, instead of the cars everybody looks for.
  • Online racing is crap.
  • No online leaderboards for time trials like the ones in prologue.

I bought a PS3 (a year ago) to play GT5, but in the long run it's obvious that it's other games that take most of my PS3 time.

There are certainly some let downs that you'll come across... Having said that, it is the best console racing game that I have played so far. Easily well worth the price tag.
