Hi everyone
I have a question for you all, I am about to buy a new PS3 Slim I was told that this Wednesday the price will be going down a little bit because of the Xbox 360 slim coming out, so Sony wants to drop the price. so I am going to take the chance, my 40gb DVD drive kicked it in a while back, So I have been PS3-less for some time.

I know there are a few diff models, 120gb 250gb etc. But are there any different revisions between them?
I am just getting the basic 120gb one. are there revisions in that model, were there any issues with that model, did they release a new revision to fix it? if so Id love to know so I can get the right model. If not then bonus I will just grab one.
Appreciate the help in advance guys.

The 250 came out not long after the 120 so they're exactly the same apart from the HDD. As far as issues there are none that I'm aware of, there were a couple problems caused by firmware updates but they have been resolved.

Thanks a lot Justin.
Anyone else have anything to add, wont be getting it till Wednesday so look forward to any one else's input

Pretty much what Justin said.. I've never heard of the PS3 Slim getting the YLOD(Yellow light of death), but that doesn't mean it doesn't get it. Anyway, the YLOD is a problem only 2% of PS3's produced have. So, don't worry about it. 👍

Try searching for PS3 repair on craigslist in your area. My Feb 2009 PS3's drive stopped working, I found a shop 50minutes away that fixes them, a shop. not a person doing them out of a van(like the first one I found). Try to get it fixed before getting a new one. Its cheaper.

Or find the correct drive online (easily done) and replace it yourself (easily done). To replace the drive yourself would cost about £20 and around 30mins to do when you follow instructions.

thanks guys, my old PS3 was bunk anyway, when playing GT5 with the ghost on, it would get glitchy, like the GFX was not good enough, so I think I just got a slightly underspecified PS3 40gb, it was annoying but still playable the frame rate would drop a bit under 25 thats for sure. and then the drive dropped so I d had enough, I did actually already pay Sony the 250 AU to fix it, they were waiting for me to send it in, when the new ones got released a few months earlier, and I was reading how they use less power, they have revised and shrunk the cell CPU down to 45nm so it was really a step up, ran cooler, looked better being smaller etc.
so I made decision to sell it to a Pawn shop, I got 120 buks for it they even knew the drive wasn't working, so im sure they will send it to be fixed anyway. so I decided to wait until GT5 release was for real, and now it seems to be, so I ordered the new one last night :P so I'm going to go back to GT5 P do licenses and race it all properly that should keep me going for a few months and plus test to make sure this PS3 isn't going to be slow with the screen full etc, so I get time to replace it
