Gifts go missing?

Has anyone else had this problem where you gift someone a car and it just goes missing completely with something like "car sending failed"?

Someone tried to send me a lambo Countach and it disappeared from their garage and never appeared in mine :(

Is there a way to avoid this, because other times it has worked fine?
 
It happened to me last night, i've lost a tuned Dodge RAM like that.
Famine made reference to a problem linked to cars that had oil change or/and installed parts. Famine, if you have more info about this...
 
I have experience of this:

A friend sent me a GTR V Spec on launch day that has never turned up.

I sent a 458 to a friend and it took 45 mins to turn up when the car he sent me at the same time arrived immediately.

Worst: A friend spotted a RUF Yellow Bird which I have been waiting for in the used card dealership - bought it for me. He then sent it and got the message "operation failed" or something similar - car was removed from his garage and has never turned up.

I don't trust the gifting as it stands.
 
I read something about both parts having to be online at the moment of the transfer. My friend lost his C4 WRC (worth 800k) when he intended to borrow it to his friend. :ouch:
 
Is it possible to Gift a car to someone for temporary use so your friends test drive it, use it in races, etc... and then they return the car by Gifting it back to you?

Anyone try this yet?

Seen loads of people do this.

You need to really trust them though.

Yes, and that was infortunate as i lost the car (read above). But it is possible to do what you want, in theory.

It's nice to know you can help a buddy out by loaning them one of your cars, but I wouldn't want to lose the car due to an error in the transaction like you said.
 
Well this has been happening to people who are cheating and using the birthday glitch haha.
 
Happens a lot. About four or five times to me. I transfer paint and cards to my main account from my two sub accounts. It happens enough to be a 'common accurance.'

This.

The second it shows the upload fail message, hit the PS button and quit game. When you reload, your car will be back in your garage.

I learned this the hard way after losing a brand new GT-R V spec. 140K down the toilet.
 
A Ford Nelson Piquet F1 card just isn't worth it to restart. I don't send cars, yet. But, it's good to know I have an option to save the car.

I've noticed when I go to share photo's and car's with friends, that the 'operation failed' error pops up. If you repeat the process, it will repeatedly error with 'operation failed' but if you select 'Open Lounge' from GT Life and proceed to view the online race lobbies, then quit back to where you were and attempt to share the items again, it will work no problem.

So when I go to gift a car to a friend, I connect to the online lobby search first, then back out and gift my car. Haven't had it fail so far.

I did this with a car that I had tuned. I sent it over and it arrived as stock and a completely different colour to the one that I had sent. :nervous:
 
Did you guys know that you can share cars without gifting them?
If you go to your garage, and instead of setting "Favourite" to 'yes' - set "share with friends" (or online, cant remember) to yes.

The car then shows up on your profile page, and I'm guessing (haven't tested it yet), that other people can "borrow" it - but you run no risk of losing it because its always in your garage.

One thing I did notice though is that you can't use a car yourself when its shared with friends, which led me to believe that they actually can use it.

Give it a try.

Edit: Oh, and you can share your B-Spec Drivers too.

I did try it a few days ago. I also read the in game manual too, I can't remember the exact wording but it gave the impression that the shared cars could only be used online.
 
I have seen that, but I can't go any further with it. I'm running 2 PSN profiles with 2 copies of the game as you can't copy your save data between PS3's. I've tried sharing a car on one of my profiles, I jump onto the other and all it allows me to do is to look at it.

I assume this will be a feature that will be patched in at a later date and I guess it is related to the B-Spec Remote play racing. Although I'm only guessing at that.

Never thought I would quote myself. But my comment on the last page didn't work. I guess I was just lucky until this point. I have tried sharing a car and it failed. Just appears to be random at whether or not it will work or not.
 
I have lost a gift car too. Mate sent it too me. Said 'upload failed' and it has never appeared.

Good example of a lack of testing and lazy programming. How can such a long development game have so many faults?
 
I almost lost my Audi R10 Stealth cause of this bug. I threw myself at the cable and shut down the PS3. What a rush...
But my mate lost his R8 and Jaguar. And he did not use the birtday glitch, we have grown to old for that.

Now this is really weak of PD.

You can't gift Stealth cars. It's not an issue.
 
Just seemingly lost a 2,500,000cr Zonda R to this bug... Wow, I knew the system was flawed to begin with, but I didn't know it was this terrible.

Edit: Restarted my system. It's back!

Lost my Toyota Minolta race car because of this, didn't know to shut down my PS3 and now it's gone forever.. bit salty right now.
