Okay, normally this car gets huge bashings, whether it be its ugly looks or its less-then-mediocre acceleration (you can actually see the numbers on the elctronic speedo on this thing... unlike in the 787B and company, where the yellow digits morph into one big mass).
But, after racing this car last night, I've got to give it praise. I took it to the FR races in Pro League, and not expecting to win (I couldn't even get my TVR Speed 12 to win!
), I was immediately surprised by the amazing handling of this thing. Not only is it controllable (you can dial in oversteer if you want, or leave it neutral if you want), but it hugs corners like few other non-F1 cars can... for example, on Apricot Hill, there's that one big sweeping "corner" where you normally enter in 3rd/4th gear... most cars will enter in too fast, loose control temporarily, and drift to the right a little (or a lot). Yet, in the Vertigo, I was able to take this corner at full throttle, which I have never been able to do in any other car, save the F1s. So, I'd like some of you guys to take the Gillet Vertigo to the FR race in Pro League (go on all three tracks), and look at it in awe as it smothers the competition...
[And note:] This car gets kudos for its awesome handling... its horsepower is around 400, so it can be outrun in the straights by the Corvette and TVR in the FR races, but it gains so much in the corners, you'll be shocked at how quickly their lil' yellow dots on the map move back behind you...
