Is in anybody watching?!? It comes on OLN (outdoor life network) twice a day. Live from Italy at 9:30 a.m and again at 8:00 p.m. If you are watching and know your riders post who you are rooting for. Myself I'm going for Gilberto Simoni. I love watching these races. I love all the stages. The flat out sprints going 40mph and the slow arduous climbs. And no, for the people who don't know Lance Armstrong is not in this race, but starting July 5 is the opening prologue for the 100th edition of the Tour de France!

(It's pronounced "giro du'talia", just so you know.)

My money is on Cipollini or the Pirate...course, Cipos form is blistering of late and he is fired up for this event...he knows that anything but a win in the tour would be a disgrace on home soil....however, i wouldnt rule out little Marco Pantani....also on home soil, he is the most determined guy in the sport of pro cycling and my fave rider...no one works harder than Marco in the run up to the Giro d'Italia....plus watchout for another Italian, Alessandro Petacchi from team FASSA BORTOLO...hes a great sprinter....

Cipo will win the Giro....thats my bet...

Naaaah. You gotta think, man. Cipo is a sprinter. Once they get to the mountains he won't be able to hang with the little climbers. He's too heavy, all that muscle slows him down. I love "Super Mario" but he won't win, and if he does i'd be VERY surprised and happy but i just don't see it.

And Pantani!! No way. I also love pantani he's a VERY good rider but, Look at it man, to be frank, He's washed up! He used to be great but, remember last years tour, he dropped out!

And again, the same with Petacchi. He's a sprinter. Sprinters don't win grand tours. They win 2 or 3 stages at the beginning and after that most of them drop out. I doubt Petacchi will drop out but i doubt he'll win it either.

My bet is still on Gilberto or possibly Stephano Garzelli. I think one of them will get it.

okay, we shall see...

the giro is usually hard to call, its easy to tell who will be in the top 10 but who will win is a harder question....

:)
