GM and Flying Cars

Ok, so I was visiting a friend in Malibu, CA and standing on the beach when I saw these planes flying ad banners. Usually those things annoy me, but since I hadn’t been in LA in a while I was a little curious and looked at what they were advertising, which turned out to be flying cars and GM. I’ve been on the flying cars rant for years now, hoping that it’ll happen in my lifetime. So I looked into it and found this site: http://www.angelfire.com/planet/futuretechtoday/ which talks about the ad campaign… but doesn’t answer my question. Is this for real? Are they really releasing flying cars?
 
man, if flying cars do ever get made in this time, they'd be really loud, those are too quiet to be real man

I don't trust people driving in two dimensions. what makes you think I'd trust them driving in three?

Besides, I think the FAA would have something to say.
 
Those videos are completely fake.

Watch the last one, where the cars are flying down the street with a bunch of other cars driving on the road. Do any of the other cars swerve? Slow down? Act strangely at all? Nope. That's because they're not seeing cars fly by.

That being said, there's no visible means of propulsion, and no visible means of steering. If you believe these videos, I'd like to sell you a few things.

Yeah, I guess you're right. I didn't really look at them too closely because I was too excited by the prospect of a flying Hummer. Now my question is: why were these made?

I want my moller.

My Advice: you can get A WWII-era T-6 Texan for less, and you know you'll get it when all's said and done.
 
Oh wow I didnt realize you thought those videos were real. You know how hard it would be to make a Hummer fly and have control like that? :lol:

I'll start believing Moller's skycar will work when I see one fly more than just a few minutes at below the treeline, untethered.

It's a GM ad campaign.
 
top gear had a flying car on the programme once...it was a plastic model, filled with with helium maybe, had little hidden propellers and was radio controlled. it wouldn't fly as fast as the one on the highway vid however. :)

For WHAT though? Just for GM cars? Why are they flying?

I'm particularly gullible about things I WANT to be real. I've no shame. It's better than jaded cynicism, eh? ;)

There's nothing wrong with jaded cynicism. I'd rather be pleasantly surprised than horribly disappointed any day ;).

That ad isn't as bad as the Jeep Commander commercial where the SUV drives out of the ocean, and they actually have a disclaimer:
Fictionalization. Vehicle not suitable for underwater use.

WTF??

Every time I see that commercial, and the disclaimer (meaning that they are afraid someone could be stupid enough to try it otherwise), my faith in humanity diminishes a little more.
