BTW, K-Bomb, the battery is weird to find because it's much smaller in height than most cars' batteries, to fit under that low hood. Not as weird as a Miata bettery, but weird.

Another BTW: Did you not notice the lights being up when you left, or was it just the parking lights?

Oh okay.

I only had the dashboard lights on (first position) so when I walked away from the car of course I didn't have a chance to visually see that. Stupid me, I'm never leaving it on the first position again.

My car is a 2004 model. It turns the headlights off when you shut it off.

That's what they should all do. I'm not trying to look down my nose, I mean ask the question -

"Why do cars have their wiring set up so that you turn the car off, pull the keys out and yet the lights are allowed to remain on?"

When is that going to be usable? Perhaps you might have to get out and open your garage door at night and have the lights on to see the fiddly keyhole, well yeah but that can be done with the engine still turning over.

Unless you're in a risky area where someone might jump in your car and drive off. Then turn it off and use a torch, having a torch is probably a good idea in a bad area.

I'm just saying that the lights staying on like they do is just asking for problems.
 
Meh, I've had plenty of times when having the headlights on with the car off has come in handy, I think that every car should either have the auto setting that is selectable from the light switch (so that when it is set to auto the lights turn off when it is light out or when the car is off), or at least have a very clear warning noise when the lights are on and the key is not in the ignition. I recently replaced my girlfriends battery under a good will warranty claim but I go in their so often they now know me and my cars personally.
